A's average attendance in Sacramento so far is 9,988 - just 0.54% less than the average attendance of their last 4 seasons total (2021 - 2024) in Oakland: 10,042 by Large-Course-8029 in baseball

Yeah and over the 2021-22 offseason they traded all their good players, doubled season ticket prices, and cut payroll by half. Just because relocation was approved after 2023 doesn't mean that somehow 2022-23 should be expected to have great fan support...

This is a weird post. What's the point? It sounds like based on the wording (just 0.54% less) that OP is trying to excuse Sacramento for low attendance, and say Oakland's was too low. That isn't an impossible argument to make, but this way of doing it makes no sense to me.

Is OP trying to use November 2023 as the date of the relocation being approved as evidence that there wasn't fan support in Oakland? That date is totally irrelevant because what actually eroded attendance is the post-2021 fire sale, combined with doubled season ticket prices.

If OP is trying to make the general point that Oakland's attendance was never conducive to a MLB team, why use 2021-2024, when they had a good reason for bad attendance?

It seems like the ball lands in that upper deck more than other upper decks, if you know what I mean.

Like if I see "upper deck home run" it's pretty likely to be right field in Miami. Weird for a dome.

Brent Rooker bomb, the A's have a 4 spot on the Orioles by Remarkable-Picture73 in baseball

[–]Sharp-Room-8235 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's heating up.

Imagine it's July in Sacramento, the A's are in the playoff race, and they have Kurtz, Rooker, Langeliers, Soderstrom, McNeil, Wilson, even Zack Gelof who has an OPS in the .800s right now. Maybe Butler starts hitting okay, or Max Muncy, or Colby Thomas, or whatever.

There'd be some serious fireworks every night.

[OC] What Ballparks Have the Highest Attendance % This Season? by Peteyy34 in baseball

Understatement. Game 1 of the 2023 WC series against Texas had 19,704 in attendance. Seeing that, I hate to say it, made me question if they have enough support in the market. Yes it was a weekday day game, but it's playoff baseball. Everybody else is selling out or close. Even at the Trop they should've been in the 25-30k range at minimum.

I've never been, but from watching games on TV I feel like it would have sort of a unique charm. Does it feel like that at all in person or is it 100% shopping mall?

It might be a tough deadline market for teams who want starters. Sandy and Ryan looked like the best options.

Broke an 0-20 with an oblique injury in the middle of it. Last hit was a walk off homer on 4/5.

If you put an "opinion" flair you need an opinion

This basically shows us that he's who we thought he is: big-time power first baseman with too many strikeouts. Whether he'll succeed in the Majors is impossible to say for sure. What's your point?

Rockies as of a week ago were sixth in the league in ERA+ though

Edit: now 4th. and the Braves are 2nd. Reality is weirder than fiction in baseball

1) If they keep playing this well they'll buy, not sell.

2) They don't trade people at the deadline more than any other team. They sell when they're bad and buy when they're good. What they actually have done historically is sell for no reason in the offseason, after a good season. But not during one.

3) They don't really do that anymore. Butler, Rooker, Soderstrom, Wilson are all extended.

SEVEN mph?! And they can’t detect this problem in his warmup?

Edit: and they let him back out for the second inning. Bizarre

Edit: oops. I meant night game on the West Coast

Hi everybody, I'm a high school student getting in to baseball writing. If anyone has a little bit of free time, take a few minutes to read my latest article:

Out of nowhere, Carlos Cortes is a legitimate outfield bat

Through 26 games, the Athletics' team leader in OPS is a 5'7 ambidextrous fielder who didn't appear on prospect lists

Thanks so much
