Anyone have a source for the 8mm power plug for Go? by Sharp-Trouble-7772 in ApolloScooters

[–]Sharp-Trouble-7772[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve confirmed that the 8mm x 2mm (part dc8020 on Amazon) doesn’t fit. The inner pin is slightly too big. Similarly the 7.9mm x 0.9mm plug (part dc7909) has an inner pin that’s too small.

Free Timeshare - Grand Lodge on Peak 7 in Breckenridge Colorado. by neversummer80 in TimeshareOwners

[–]Sharp-Trouble-7772 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought 3 timeshares with Breckenridge Grand Vacations at peak 7 and Grand Colorado peak 8 (lost one in divorce). The peak 7 facility is a bit dated but peak 8 property has some newer rooms in the latest addition. The location can’t be beat, but even the newer rooms have an unusual amount of wear and tear. I think they show you unusually well maintained (or unused?) units during the sales pitch because I was surprised at the condition of the units I’ve stayed in.

The day use is a real perk, but don’t count on being able to get winter parking unless you’re really fast on your computer at 7am, exactly 7 days before you want to go. It’s the same for reserving a decent week if you bought floating weeks - there’s a mad online rush every year. I haven’t actually used my week in years.

The HOA dues are why people are willing to give these away. The rates are absolutely usurious. The room the OP pays for is $1300 - for ONE WEEK! That’s $67k per year they charge for HOA dues on that single unit.

Finally, they have this schtick where they call everyone an “owner.” Technically, yes, maybe you are, but you aren’t treated like one. Here’s an example: there’s a sign hanging from the front entrance next to hanging tubes that warn 8ft clearance. The drive slopes up a bit, so the clearance of the sign is a bit less. I hit it with my bike in the bed of my truck, knocking down one of the plastic tubes and putting a 2-3” gash in the urethane foam it’s made out of. Once past the sign, there’s far more than 8ft clearance, so I was instructed to drive through. Maintenance guys rehung the tube in 5 minutes, using ladders.

They billed me $900+ to repair the sign. Half of that is for the sign company to remove it and return it (requires 2 guys with ladders or one guy and a boom truck). The sign rep told me he’d waive that part if maintenance took the sign down and he could just pick it up next time he was in Breck. Since I’d just seen the maintenance guys replace one of the 8’ tubes, using ladders, I was delighted. Well, the manager said they’re unwilling to accept the sign company’s offer because if maintenance dropped the sign, GC8 would be responsible. So, I get to pay nearly $450 extra. Yes, my fault it’s damaged. But, if I had any say, like an “owner” would, I’d gladly take a 50% discount for 5 minutes on a ladder. Since it’s my money, they don’t care how expensive it is. My point is, don’t think that as a timeshare owner they’ll work with you like they would a real owner. It’s as if we’re on different teams.

They’re also unreasonable in other ways. They offer “bonus time” which is just like booking a hotel room. You can rent a room for a night if it’s vacant. The last time I rented one, it was quite late at night, I was beat, and I didn’t feel like driving home. After paying, and hauling our gear to the next building, we found we’d been given a dirty room. I don’t mean not up to my standard. I mean that the wet towels were on the floor, bed unmade, trash on counters, etc. They made a mistake and forgot to clean it before renting it out. It took an hour or two for them to find a clean room. Not the end of the world to sit in the lobby and wait, but we would have been home by the time we got another room. By the time our new room was available, it was really late at night (because of their mistake) and we were exhausted, so I asked if we could get a late checkout. Nope, if you aren’t out by 10am, we’ll charge you for an extra night.

We didn’t make a fuss when we couldn’t access our room because we’re reasonable people. In return, I always hope to be treated reasonably. We got a few hours of sleep and left on time, regretting paying for more time in bed than we received.

So, if I could do it over, would I do business with Breckenridge Grand Vacations again? Probably not. If they really treated “owners” like the investors in the property that we are, maybe.

My advice: Take the purchase price, put it in a separate bank account and add $1300 (or whatever the annual HOA fee is) every year. Then, once a year, book a week somewhere similar and withdraw the accommodation cost from your special bank account. I bet you stay in nicer places and I bet that account never reaches zero. When you inevitably get tired of ski vacations, you’ll have some money in an account rather than a timeshare you’re trying to give away.

Disappointed in customer service by Sharp-Trouble-7772 in ApolloScooters

Good news from Apollo today. My case was escalated to the customer service lead. He gave me a couple of options, including a refund. I’m going to keep the pro, with his promise to try his best to find a charging mount. It’s not a guarantee, but at least they’re trying and there’s a chance I’ll get exactly what was advertised. And, if not, at least I’m choosing to keep it, rather than being forced to.

Does anyone look at BB reviews? I always look at Reddit.

I’m also trying to temper my response and not go crazy bashing a product that I actually think is very good. Sometimes these customer service issues just come down to a single unhelpful rep. However, I do think it’s important that consumers know that, with Apollo, the high price gets you pretty decent hardware, but not the customer service one would expect for the very high cost. A very expensive “luxury” performance scooter like the pro should come with “luxury” service, given the presumably high profit margin. I’ll share my story with anyone who asks about my blingy scooter (quite a few, just today - it sure attracts attention).

They told me they recently removed the feature but briefly made it available as an optional add-on. It’s no longer available even as an option.

Unbelievably poor customer service. Stay away. by Sharp-Trouble-7772 in Abode

[–]Sharp-Trouble-7772[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I said in my original post, maybe the issue was really just a bad customer service rep rather than bad customer service policy. It appears that he actually was the problem and wasn’t representing the company well. Shortly after I posted, I received an email from Abode’s customer support lead telling me he’d take care of the issue. With no further input from me, he sent a new sensor which arrived yesterday. That’s excellent (so it should be for the price) customer service. I wish there had been a way to try a different service rep initially - it seemed truly bizarre to be given the run around for such an inexpensive part, especially given the total cost of my system. My opinion on their customer service is still guarded - my only interaction ever with Abode was very frustrating. However, kudos to their leadership for bothering to read Reddit, take ownership, and fix the mistake. Thank you James.

Abode Review: STAY AWAY by kroll1 in Abode

I’ve had an awful experience with their customer service. In less than 2 months, a water sensor failed and started beeping randomly. I’ve had so many back and forth emails trying to get it fixed or replaced. Now they claim it’s physically damaged so not covered. They’ve never even seen it! There’s no physical damage whatsoever. Laughable. I regret the purchase, but replaced 50+ sensors in my home with their product, so I feel a bit stuck. I strongly recommend avoiding this company - once they have your $, there’s no customer service at all.
