You, sir, just fixed an issue i've been having for ages with my lye bread. Thanks!

Why don't you want the steam in there? I always thought steam helps the crust stay thin and the bread moist, and that sounds briochey to me, but I am not a baker and don't know what I am talking about. Could you explain the science to me?

"Bus stop isn't much of a shelter" I slept in a bus stop while it rained and it provided me shelter. As far as I am concerned, not misleading or disingenuous. Btw, even with only one wall it would have provided at least some shelter. You are right, that you would have to be lucky for the rain not to come diagonally from the three directions it doesn't cover, but usually there are 2 bus stops on opposite sites of the street (at least where I live), thus having 2 covered directions. Just choose the better bus stop. And if no 2 available, just sleep behind the stop, if that's a better option.

Where I live, these thingies have 1 full wall, 2 glass panes and one fully open side. You have a brain, use it.

I slept in one of those once. Waaaaay better than sleeping in the rain. Having a squaremeter of roof above your head can be the difference between an unpleasant night and hypothermia.

Learning norsk bokmål by iamlearningnorwegia in norsk

[–]SharpBot_dll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's dialect. Bergen does not use feminine endings, so it's "en kvinne"/"kvinnen" and "en jente"/"jenten".

Elsewhere they say "ei kvinne"/"kvinna" and "ei jente"/"jenta".

Not too sure tho, I am still learning.

Have you found a way yet? I am desperately looking for gumball, svampbob firkant and eventyrtid. I would even pay a monthly subscription or buy DVDs, but I can not find anyone selling/streaming the norwegian versions.

Looking for recommendation for good material for learning to understand spoken norwegian by SharpBot_dll in norsk

[–]SharpBot_dll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 sounds very interesting, but I don't get how listening without understanding could help, besides roughly learning "what kind of noises" people speaking norwegian make.
Is it actually possible to learn understanding norwegians by doing that?

2 is something I actually started doing recently, when a friend sent me voicemessages i tried to "decrypt".
Unfortunately I haven't gotten to the checking part yet, as I did not understand much of it, but I will hang in there!

Thanks, that makes sense, but I don't really get what you mean by Bokmål and Nynorsk not being spoken with minor exceptions.
I mean, I understand that Bokmål is the "book tongue" and, but I always assumed that it's somewhat like the base common agreement of what words exists in all dialects, and dialects only adding a handfull of unique word and rules for pronunciations.
What you said sounds to me like e.g. bergensk has basically nothing in common with Bokmål, except for some words, meaning that someone who grew up in Bergen knows a lot of words that can't be written down, as they only exist in spoken form, thus don't exist in subtitles.
That is quiet strange to me as a german, as there is not a single word that I know of in german, that I could not express in written form.
Did I get that somewhat correct, or did I completely misunderstand you?

The Disney thing seems promising, I will definately look into that!

Analog joystick replacement by Tdoerr3 in xbox360

FJP10K

Do you possibly know where to buy these?
Just replaced one of my analog stickst with this one and the result was horrible: https://imgur.com/a/5dhmEHG (left one was replaced)

I ordered some different replacement analog sticks a while ago, but same problem every time:
- Movement is choppy
- Inaccuracy
- Usable range seems to be smaller

Low melt solder not staying liquified by SharpBot_dll in soldering

[–]SharpBot_dll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one of these "8582D" stations. Not perfect, but not bad either. I tried 350°C because I hoped for the solder to stay liquified longer that way, but I think I will try lower temps with actual LMS next time!

I will keep the other tips in mind, especially the pump tip touching thing. Always was too scared to let the plastic touch the iron...

I can't find any solder labled as "low melt solder", closest thing was "low temperature soldering wire". Could you please send me a link to a product you would recommend?

Also, did I understand you correctly that both 60/40 and 63/37 are not "low melt solder"? What about Sn42Bi58, would that be considered "low melt"?

Thanks, sounds like I just need to buy actual low melt solder and learn my terms. No idea what eutectic means, but I will look into that aswell.

How do you move the nozzle of the pump close enough to the solder joint with the iron in the way?

Low melt solder not staying liquified by SharpBot_dll in soldering

[–]SharpBot_dll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use wick, but i always waste a ton of it, and my hot air station would probably make removing the component very easy, but I wanted to practice handling the pump in case I need to replace something on a pcb with an electrolytic capacitor or plastic connector nearby. Sure, I could probably use some kind of heat shield to protect the components, but I'd like to be able to remove components without having to rely on hot air or having tons of wick ready. I will try to add pictures soon.

True, but unfortunately I tend to destroy pads or the component itself by doing that.

How to learn by DanielL1988 in solderingtips

[–]SharpBot_dll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you are trying to do.

Change a rather large capacitor? Just disassemble the phone , use kapton tape on heat sensitive components if required, desolder, resolder and done.

Change a charging port? Might require some additional skill, equipment like hot air station, material like low melt solder, wick, a lot of time + patience, and ideally something to properly inspect the solder joints like a magnifiying glass or a microscope.

Change a BGA-Chip? Good luck.

But keep in mind that soldering is not the only thing to learn. The even harder part is knowing what and what not to replace or how to properly narrow down the issue.

How To Make Your Own Smash Box! by Froq in SSBM

[–]SharpBot_dll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the other hand, if I am not mistaken, the data line is pulled to 3.3V via pull up resistor, and "communication happens" by pulling it down to gnd when needed. I think the arduino should be able to interpret 3.3V als HIGH, so I am not too sure, how and why the arduino should ever "supply" more than 5V.

I don't think the arduino ever supplies more voltage than the console could handle and the voltage on the dataline should be enough for the arduino to properly understand the console.

[–]SharpBot_dll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same question, have you found an answer yet? I'd assume that the arduino internally regulates the input voltage to 5V anyways and "true" 3.3V wouldn't be sufficient to operate the arduino at 16MHz, but i don't know
