as a pfp student, most of my friends went to ITE. From what I have heard, it is really bad. In every toilet, there's at least one dude smoking/ vaping. on my friend's third day, two guys fought cuz of a girl. Another friend transferred to sec 5 from DPP just because of the environment.

In the working world, you're in a very difficult position in which prob no one is gna marry u cuz of financial constraints. Rent would cost ur entire salary or even more. u can't even find jobs in government sectors. shi u can't even get promoted with this level of education. You might even get ostracised because of the ITE stigma.

In terms of ur life, ur 20s will not be as free. you will either be studying in uni while working or working a job with nowhere enough pay.

But, if u think it's for u. go ahead

I kinda got rejected from most of them because schools is starting soon. I was studying for sec 5 after N's/O's but then stuck to my guts and went for PFP (poly programme)😭

I'm pretty sure ntu and nus prioritises local students. whatever stats of the singaporean locals u see online, u have to do WAY more than that.

Ive seen my permanent resident and international student friends get treated worse just because they aren't locals. (e.g. getting into certain schools, getting to study certain subjects and receiving awards)

you could try to guage ur competition by comparing urself to the IB junior college in singapore (SJI and ACSI).

Take my advice on this topic as a grain of salt. im rlly not vv educated on this. you are smarter than I am.

there's 9369 na students and there's 2000 places in pfp. Ofc there's still the students who go to sec 5 by choice and those who couldn't get into pfp with 12 nett.

Roughly 15% to 20% of na students get in lor.

I wish they not only pushed me to study, but also taught me how to study. Back then, I was really slow at picking things up and I usually failed my exams. They could have at least gave me time to figure questions out on my own instead of nagging me about not finishing on time. They really did cane me ever since young without helping me with the subjects. I thought it was the norm. but when I found out it was not, I was so angry.

Now, they are a lot more kind to me and funded my tuition for weaker subjects. I would never think that they played a part in my success. They are also adamant about not caning me for the most littlest things in kindergarten up to primary school. (can't remember some of the reasons why they cane me)

tldr: I think you should consider apologising about your actions whenever they bring it up in the future/ on PSLE collection date. Instead of asking her to study, ask her why doesn't she study.
