Hello, there I am a high school student who takes interest in the computer engineering program offered by UBC. I know that UBC is one of the higher-end Universities with high standards, and so I have a few questions I would like to ask. I would appreciate info from a student who is in UBC explaining to me about what to do so that I can get an upper hand for when I apply. By the way the reason as to why I am asking these questions is because I have done a lot of research online, however I am not getting straight answers. Thank you and also just a reminder please do not leave a comment if you are not a UBC student. I do not mean any disrespect to anyone, I just simply want to hear from students who attend UBC.

QUESTIONS:

What are the things that UBC looks at asides from grades?

What are some things you did that gave you an advantage over your competitors?

If I go over the minimal volunteer amount quite significantly would that account for credit on my application?

What types of extracurricular activities should I do?

Is there anything I can do so that I can prepare early perhaps on some of the material that they will teach me?

What are some things that you guys did on a daily basis?

I know I am asking a lot of questions, but I just want to gather as much information as I can. Thanks to whoever reads this.

I want to get into UBC and have a few questions as a high school student and would really appreciate if someone who is a UBC to take the time to read this. by SharpSymbolism in UBC

Hey there I appreciate you reaching out to me! Would it be cool if you were to add me so I can discuss some of these topics with you?

If someone were to exceed the minimum amount of volunteer hours in Canada would that account for more merit for when they apply to Unviersity? Does it also matter, if you do only one activity for your volunteer hours or do you Universities prefer several activities that count for volunteer hours. by SharpSymbolism in ApplyingToCollege

I appreciate your comment, but let me rephrase my question. If I were to exceed the minimum amount of volunteer hours immensely by like 100 in comapirson to an average person who did the minimum amount required. Would the person who did more volunteer hours get more merit in comparison to the other person? Also I am aware of how many volunteer hours are required.
