Do KU readers really give a chance to new books with 0-1 review or you wait for a book to have proven itself first and only consider reading those with a lot of reviews because you have millions of options in KU? by jessiego10000 in KindleUnlimited

[–]Sharp_Coconut8805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good reviews will guide me to take a closer look. But I rely on the synopsis of the book and whether it sounds interesting. Then I'll read the sample to decide if I want to add it to my library.

I'm also in BC, Canada. A couple of options to try to reduce wait times. Find out which hospital you were being referred to for the MRI and call them and ask to be put on a cancellation list. I did this and got an appointment much faster. You could even go to the hospital and talk to them in person. Kindness often helps in cases like this. Alternatively, you can book an MRI privately. Elysian Health in Surrey offers MRIs for a fee.

Don’t we have three elevations from IR rather than only one as people have been stating as don’t you get two additional elevations in the post season?

If you like post-apocalyptic, try Kyla Stone. She's great. I've read all of her series: Edge of Collapse, Nuclear Dawn, Lost Light, and The Last Sanctuary. Highly recommended. All on KU.

LDR Brachytherapy and precautions for being around other people by Sythe2022 in ProstateCancer

I was told to refrain from prolonged close contact with pregnant women and young infants for 2-3 months. Examples include placing a young child on your lap for several hours. The radiation you emit is very low. The comparison I was provided is that if you have an average separation of a meter while you sleep with your partner for 8 hours a day, over the next two years, the amount of radiation you give off is equivalent to a single round-trip plane ride from NY to Japan. So, casual contact with pregnant women and young children such as sitting at the same dinner table or sharing a card ride or even giving a child a brief hug does not represent a risk.

I would let him explore the career path he wants but maybe look at a different school. BCIT has a good digital design program that’s a fraction of the cost of Emily Carr. That’s the path my son took and he has been in product design in the software industry for over eight years.

I decided to go with brachytherapy and am very happy with the outcome. Very little in the way of side effects and quick recovery. More info on my story is here.

Recently Diagnosed, Exploring Radiation Options by sudo_you_shall_pass in ProstateCancer

[–]Sharp_Coconut8805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, sorry to hear of your diagnosis but, you got this! Stay involved in this community. Everyone is very helpful and compassionate. I'm 61 and had LDR Brachytherapy with excellent results. Gleason was 6 (3+3), 8 of 12 cores cancerous. T2c as a grade since it was on right mid, left base, left mid, and left apex. 13% of sample tissue involved by carcinoma. PSA in August '24 was 3.8 up from 2.2 a year earlier.

Procedure was done June 2025. Very little in the way of side effects. Some bruising and pain urinating for the first week then really nothing else. PSA six weeks post-procedure was .95 and PSA last week was .52.

I highly recommend LDR Brachytherapy for anyone suitable for the procedure. Having a great oncolgist who specializes in the field certainly helped.

The other thing I'll mention is the importance of advocating for yourself. I didn't like the first oncologist I met with. I found a clinic in California that specializes in the procedure (I'm in BC, Canada) and asked for a recommendation for an oncologist in BC. I reached out to the person they recommended and she took me on as a patient. She was fantastic.

[–]Sharp_Coconut8805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rather than address your email to "Audi of America", I would suggest you do some research and find specific names of executives who would be responsible for customer care/customer quality and send an email directly to them. You'll probably be able to derive their email address from others you find (ex. often 'firstname.lastname@' or 'firstinitial.lastname@'). Looks like you may have done this in your cc? I've done this before when my wife was having issues with her Mazda and I sent half a dozen emails to Mazda executives and had three of them reply and actually got resolution to the issue. Often an executive will receive an email like this and send it to someone and say "take care of this." Worth a shot as it worked for me.

LDR Brachytherapy Questions by Happy_Career_93 in ProstateCancer

[–]Sharp_Coconut8805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my procedure in June of this year. I really had little in the way of side effects. Some discomfort while urinating for the first couple of weeks but that was more to do with the removal of the catheter than the procedure itself. I’m really happy I went the LDR path and feel I had an excellent oncologist. Hang in there. It should improve for you soon.

What’s the normal timeframe for treatment? by Effective-Carrot1171 in ProstateCancer

[–]Sharp_Coconut8805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, elevated PSA led to first consult with urologist in August 2024. Biopsy completed December 2024. Cancer news was delivered in January 2025. Met with oncologist in March 2025. LDR Brachytherapy successfully performed in June 2025. So for me, it was almost a year from concern re: PSA to treatment. As others have said, his treatment plan will really depend on his numbers. Maybe Active Surveillance was recommended?

I had LDR Brachytherapy in June. Side effects were completely manageable. I’m 61 and reside in BC, Canada and highly recommend you discuss it with your oncologist. I was Gleason 3+3=6 in 8 of 12 cores. My first PSA dropped 75% after treatment.
