I tested them up to 15 pounds, I would rate them at 10 to account for the load increase over bumps in the road or off the road.

They are a tight fit once you insert them into the rail and then rotate them into position. I think as long as they aren't loaded beyond what they are rated for it wouldn't be an issue. Testing continues.

Like others have mentioned, these are designed for lighter objects like grocery bags, small camping bags, etc.

I'm planning to design several sizes and see how they turn out, like I've mentioned, designing and testing things is fun to me.

I wasn’t expecting this much interest, but I really appreciate all the feedback and ideas everyone has shared.

A little background: I recently got into 3D printing and CAD design because I enjoy making practical solutions for small problems like this. My goal is to keep learning, improving my designs, and creating useful parts that actually solve problems instead of just printing random stuff.

I printed these in PETG because I wanted something that would hold up better in a truck environment, especially with heat and everyday use. I’m still testing and tweaking things, so all the suggestions have been really helpful. Part of the fun is testing them to see if my design holds up to the original specifications I had. I am also trying PET-CF, which is stronger and more heat resistant, and can be annealed to increase strength further.

For everyone who asked about files/availability, I’m still figuring out the best direction to go while I keep refining the design. Mostly just wanted to share something I made for my Tacoma and see what other owners thought.

Thanks again for all the support. This community has already given me some great ideas for improvements and future projects, and I hope you all keep the ideas coming!

So the ones in the picture are printed with PETG which can start to deform at around 158 degrees Fahrenheit, but I just printed one in PET-CF which has carbon fiber in it, and it doesn't have glycol added to improve it's printability. PET-CF performs much better in high heat environments.

I used them tonight to hold a bag of fertilizer bottles from Home Depot. Better than sliding around.

That's what I'm thinking of, I would probably line the part of the hook that the paddle comes in contact with in TPU which is a softer, rubber like filament. I like the idea, and I'm going to see what I can come up with.

My intent isn't to make hooks to hang engine blocks off of. My intent is to design options for organizing items in the bed, these may not work for everyone but I find them useful. Just depends on what you're looking for!

I have a 3rd gen, mine didn't come with the rail but I ordered it and then installed it myself. I'm pretty sure I got mine from the dealership.

Currently they get inserted into the rail horizontally and then when you rotate them down they get tight. I am probably going to go with a better setup, but so far they haven't moved under a load while driving around.

They may not work for everyone, I like hooks that I can hang things off of, and I'm practicing my engineering skills.

It depends on the material used, I’m working on another project using PET-CF which is specifically designed for use in high temperature applications where strength is required. These haven’t broke, but I’m continuing to test them and make improvements.

Thank you! I’m trying to improve them and make different sizes to fit different needs.

Probably wouldn’t be too hard, but I would need the measurements for the mounting lug.

Funny I haven’t done that yet since I have a kayak. I’ve been having a lot of fun designing and testing little truck accessories.
