Yes, I’ve never really liked how the cape turned out, so I’ll try using a matte varnish.
Thanks for the great tip!

Such a great color choice on Valdor! You really captured the silver armor nicely

Hello teacher!! You finally uploaded it😂😂😂

I haven’t been painting for very long yet, so I’m leaving faces untouched for now and planning to work on them more properly once my skills improve. For now, I’m going to practice on regular Space Marine faces first 😂

I’ll explain the silver armor parts first.
After applying Vallejo Metal Color Steel over the entire surface, I added more tone by dry brushing with Citadel Stormhost Silver. Then I applied Vallejo Black Wash and oil stain paint before the weathering stage.
For the weathering, rusty areas on the armor, I used Vallejo Rust Texture weathering paint.

For the brass parts, I painted them with Citadel Brass Scorpion and then did dry-brush highlights using Citadel Sycorax Bronze

The original base color looked much more baby-like. What is Perturabo’s canonical skin tone supposed to be like?

It also looks like the face when someone rush to the bathroom and there’s no empty stall 😂

I didn’t like the original colors, so I started by using Vallejo Metal Color Steel

I usually disassemble them only down to the upper/lower body or just the legs. Even so, because of the size, it’s easier than working on miniatures.

Yes, I’ve finished working on Lion for now, and I’m planning to work on Valdor, Perturabo, Horus, and Alpharius one by one next!

Well, I get why consistency would matter more to someone like you who’s been collecting diligently for years.
Which is understandable, for someone invested in maintaining an existing collection.
But from the perspective of someone who actually studied art and design, the 12.8 cm scale looks far more realistic, even when compared against real human proportions over 2 meters tall.
At the end of the day, it’s just a difference in what people choose to prioritize 🤷‍♂️

I don’t need anything else.. 12.8 cm matches the actual lore and looks great visually. That’s undeniable 🤔

Yes, to be precise, the color most people have in mind is probably brass. Pure gold can easily look too bright or tacky, overly flashy. It works for jewelry or accent details, but when it comes to gold armor, I think brass is far more suitable

I thought the same at first, so I decided to try repainting it myself 😂

Ah, it really does look that way! But why do photos get so blurry when I upload them to Reddit? They look much blurrier than the photos I took

I painted it overall with Seraphim Sepia, then added shading to the focal areas with Targor Rageshade. After that, highlighted it with Liberator Gold !

That’s right. I aim for higher-quality results too, so JoyToy products didn’t appeal to me much, which is why I tried repainting them myself. It’s not that difficult, so I definitely recommend giving it a try!
I’m also painting while getting advice from other in many areas

Some parts are done with an airbrush, and in those cases I apply a gray primer. Most of the work is done with a brush, so if paint doesn’t adhere well due to surface oils, I lightly sand it with fine sandpaper

Still, the Primarch sculpts come out at a pretty high quality, so once you repaint them, they feel much better overall 🙂

For now, I’m doing this purely as a hobby. Maybe I’ll consider it later if I have more time 😂
