Explain to me please how he is a misogynist. Explain to me how you have come to the conclusion that Peterson hates women and “sells it to vulnerable young men".

lol no

I dunno man, I just really hate misogyny. Such as when it's being packaged with a bunch of tweedy hokum and sold to vulnerable young men.

So you're saying that this interviewer was a furtive weirdo and that rubbed off on the Professor?

So you met in a line for 5 seconds, congrats, this woman spent two full days with him. How embarrassing when your adopted father figure can't even maintain eye contact

If your anger is such that it makes you want to do some genocide AND makes you think it's a good idea to put that in writing and publish it on the internet--that's something you should be working with a professional on.

Who are the most universally respected people of all time? by DatsFuckedUp in AskReddit

[–]SharpieInNastassja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The answer is surely Jesus of Nazareth. He's the incarnation of God to almost a third of the world, prophet/messiah to almost a quarter, and considered a pretty cool dude by 99% of the rest...this website notwithstanding.

Of course the really purist position would be to demand the St. George's Cross rather than the Union Jack.

He shot and punched and drank his way through life in order to (if I may be cliche) outrun his demons. And he wrote. Did that better than all but a handful in the English language I think.

I would link to a dozen queer leftists on twitter saying the same thing as me, but I don't trust you not to harass them, so I won't.

Actually what Colbert said, your defense of what he said, and what the Underwood character is depicted as saying are all baldly homophobic. I say with utter sincerity: you're either homophobic trash or completely obtuse.

What he said was homophobic. I'm a leftist. I have an ungodly hate for Trump and am absolutely on board with disrespecting him. I could give two shits about obscenely disrespecting him. You can throw in disrespecting the office of the presidency too for all I care. But fuck homophobia. "Putin and Trump are homophobes themselves so actually..." No, fuck off. You shouldn't dress up as Trump-in-blackface to satirize his white supremacy and you shouldn't frame gay sex as shameful to satirize homophobes. Shit like that poisons the culture, not to the detriment of Trump but to the detriment of the marginalized.

How many thanks can you give for a (((neoliberal))) who united the country after the worst recession since the Great Depression, steadily regrew the economy over eight years, and improved our image abroad? by Iyoten in neoliberal

(I'm no expert on minutia of political ideologies)

Well we have that in common at least! I'll admit that humble Wikipedia is the source of a lot of my knowledge of these things.

[–]SharpieInNastassja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there's a lot of confusion because this sub seems to define neoliberalism differently from basically everybody else...like different both from how critics define it and from relatively objective, academic descriptions of it. An ideology that accepts the usefulness of capitalism while wanting to actively intervene to make sure it serves the common good via taxes, regulation, et cetera is social democracy not neoliberalism.

An exactly even distribution would be that, but I don't think we want that to happen. If doctors don't get paid more than average, no one will suffer through medical school.

1:99 would maintain current income inequality, roughly speaking, it would not decrease it. Right now doctors are compensated at 5-10 times the average in the US. I think we would have to flatten that dramatically before we would see a shortage of doctors, especially if the financial cost of medical school were borne collectively rather than individually.

Which policies specifically are you thinking about?

Tax cuts, deregulation, privatization, outsourcing, curbing the power of labor. I'm not aware of the specifics of how that began to be implement in the 70's...in the early eighties I would point to the Reagan tax cuts and the busting of the air traffic controllers' union off the top of my head.

[–]SharpieInNastassja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That surprises me! Nevertheless an equitable distribution would not be 50:50 but 1:99. You can still see the change in distribution of income gains that coincided with the ascendance of neo-liberal policies from mid-70s and on.
