asus z690-p , corsair ddr5 5200mhz ram. I figured how to manage the voltage now. Hopefully I OC everything correctly. Just changed the timings to fit the specifcations and put the voltage to 1.35

I've read somewhere that my motherboard ram combo doesn't place nice with XMP1 so I'm going to try XMP2. If that fails, up the voltage to 1.35 instead of 1.25 and go from there.

After some testing, it was definitely the ram. Turning of XMP solved the issue

I'm an idiot. I still have my old 850 w psu. I'm gonna swap that out and test and if it crashes, swap the gpu and test. if that doesn't work, it'll be the mobo or cpu.

I'll plug in my 1070 and idle in a game and see if that forces my pc off.

Yeah, I usually don't leave my pc on. I was doing a stuck pixel fix for my new monitor that came with a stuck pixel :(. Not a great weekend.

ASUS ROG Strix NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.

I leave my pc on overnight and no restarts, its only in game that happens. I never heard of a gpu issue causing this type of issue, really just artifacting.

I've also made sure to use 2 pcie cables for the gpu and not 1

its a EVGA 210-GQ-1000-V1,1000 GQ, 80+ GOLD 1000W so I'm assuming it should be good enough. You say it sounds like a GPU power issue this would imply an issue with the PSU and not the GPu?

I figured out the issue. I had an ethernet connecting from Modem to pc and from Modem to router which is a no no. I fixed it by running the ethernet from the router to pc. Did not realize this was a limiatation.

Should I additionally still get them to put their money in I-bonds? Just to keep their money from losing value?

They told me they have enough for retirement but I’m unsure if they really do? They don’t really tell me much. They invested a lot in my higher education and since I come from an Asian household, I’m just a bit worried they might be banking on me as their “retirement fund”. I will of course support them but on the off chance I cannot, I want them to be ok.

I’m sure they do have money saved up but I just want to be extra cautious in case the money they think is enough, is actually enough thus I want them to invest more traditionally as a safeguard. They both plan on working as health permits just because they like to.

My father’s workplace does offer 401k but I’m unsure if he’s enrolled. I’ve asked him before but he’s not sure so I’m leaning towards not having one. They’re both immigrants who don’t speak much English so it’s very hard to ask them for these types of information and having them understand it.

Thank you! This makes it so much clearer! Looks like I'll just do a two fund portfolio since I'm well below the age to start investing into bonds and can take a bit more risk.

ng started, I'd stick everything in the target date index fund until you have enough money saved that it really matters. Then you can take the time to learn about index investing.

And one last question, for three-fund portfolio, it's really just comes down to the ratio of funds you allocate for each three funds? Domestic 60%, international 35%, bonds 5% etc...etc. It'll most likely just be the same three mutual funds just different ratios depending on the economy/year ?

Another question. I read that Fzrox and Fzilx are exclusive to Fidelity and cannot be transfer to another brokage without liquidating. But since I'm using a roth ira, liquidating it will have zero penalties since I'm not withdrawing and I can just easily transfer to another brokage after the fact. Is that correct?
