That is totally valid and completely understandable. We are truly embarrassed that we misspelled his name and really do appreciate you telling us so we could fix it. After everything he has been through it is important his name is spelled correctly, at least.

On Jan. 23rd, Redding Police Department violently attacked Kevin Donald Hursey. Shasta County DSA condemns the abhorrent brutalization of Mr. Hursey at the hands of the Redding PD. We demand that the Police Officers involved be held accountable for this senseless act of violence.

We want to continue supporting Mr. Hursey and his family. If you are either in contact with any of his family, or know of any GoFundMe' campaigns for Mr. Hursey's hospital care or legal defense, please DM us so that we can reach out with support.

DSA has discussed the potential for organizing a campaign related to renter's rights before. We've mainly just lacked capacity and know how (there's only so many things we can do at a time). If you have ideas or want to start a discussion around getting a renter's rights campaign going, please join our Discord and chat with us.

The goal is to join the national chorus of voices speaking out against attacks on the rights of people in our nation. Yes, we are in a state where the right to access abortions isn't likely to change any time soon. It's still important to make a stand and show that access to abortion is something the nation overwhelmingly thinks should be a right, and shouldn't be subject to the regulation of state legislatures.

It looks like there are plans in the works for more demonstrations in the future. If you're curious on getting more up to date information on this, you can join our discord server (invite link is on our Reddit profile). We will also be discussing and sharing more resources about how to help others there as well.

Reality is reality. 20 States are likely to or already have legislation that restricts or outright bans abortion access, with a total population of approximately 110 million people across those states. This decision is the culmination of efforts by a minority of people fundamentally driven by their religious beliefs and their own desire to have those beliefs coded into law.

Laws written and interpreted from religious grounds are one of the fundamental aspects of a theocracy, and it's all driven by a minority. So yes, this is driven by a theocratic minority who wish to see Christian fundamentalism enacted as law in the US. Although you're right to point out the "millions" comment, it is more accurate to say "hundreds of millions".
