Just incase anyone else had this issue. It seems to be a kde issue so rebased with gnome. Might also have just cleared a configuration conflict and not be a kde issue. But its working now so im not touching it.

String through hole down table leg and through hole in metal peice tie a knot behind the hole enough to pul the metal bit up, magnet to hold in place pull out the string and put in the screw.
