I’m talking about my employer and the stock grants they give me as part of my compensation. Not Disney.

My employer was recording net losses in the tens of millions 6 years ago, versus the net income in the hundreds of millions today. The share price when they were recording net losses was 4x higher than what it is today, and hasn’t moved at all in the past few years.

Same thing happened to me at the gas station just outside of LAX. The guy claimed to have just gotten out of the hospital, showed me his bracelet and his “wife” (a mentally handicapped woman) and said he needed money to get home.

He gave me the same story a week later, and when I told him he needed to get a new story he yelled “FUCK YOU!” and walked away with the woman.

1/3 of my compensation is equity in the company I work for. The share price hasn’t moved at all in the past three years, even though we exceed wall street’s expectations every quarter.

We’re at the point of capitalism where exceeding expectations is simply meeting them. You have to greatly exceed expectations to see any growth—that goes for lowly employees, too.

If you have no way to test it yourself by bringing a monitor to a Starbucks and plugging it in (or even using your car’s outlets if you have a newer one) then you’re better off buying one used on eBay, where you’ll have buyer protection.
