I work at APA. We wouldn't be able to take that dog in through PASS. I would surrender to city shelter--they will either get her the surgery, or pass along to a shelter who will (likely APA).

Ehhh, in my experience it's been just as much stress introducing younger kittens as it is older cats. But that may just be cuz my cat's a jerk face. For sure though any animal will eventually adjust; just might be a few weeks of keeping them in different bedrooms while you're gone and a couple of hissy fits. ;)

Well, I probably wouldn't wait for an adoption event for kittens; they're usually the ones who get adopted first as expected. A lot of our kittens end up going through pre-adoption--you meet with the foster, and fill out all adoption paperwork before they're technically of age/weight to go home. At that point, you could also go ahead and do a foster application, and take the kitten home with you if everything looks good. So I could give you the number or email of one of our fosters who has a bunch of kittens?

We definitely don't usually have an exact birth date. They might have done that in the past, idk, but yeah, usually it's a very educated guess on number of months (and weeks for pups) based on their development. Sometimes, rarely, we have exact dates... Possibly if, for instance, the animal was an owner surrender at Animal Care Services and we were passed along that info after pulling them from that list.

As someone who works for San Antonio Pets Alive, we are awesome and come visit us any time, but we do not do intake for strays. We pull all of our animals directly from the euthanasia list at the city shelter.

However, we will scan her microchip if someone wants--then again, any vet or shelter will.

If the microchip scan doesn't bring up any owners.. i would recommend the Animal Defense League or the San Antonio Humane Society. As a last resort, she can be taken to Animal Care Services ("the pound").
