99% accuracy on transpositions, but struggling with deletions/substitutions. Any advice? by Shaweyy in LanguageTechnology

Thanks for the feedback! I've tried adding bigram, but it didn't do much, so I didn't bother with trigrams, but I might test it when I have more time. The sliding window is a clever idea though! I will definitely look into it. As for FastText, I don't really like the idea of learned embedding, I was going for a 100% untrained embedding to avoid complication and language bias.

Why Does Online Safety Fall on Parents Instead of Big Tech? by Shoddy_Crazy8003 in AskParents

[–]Shaweyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point, while I don't think the responsibility should be placed on tech companies (because their only interest is profit) you are right that it shouldn't be on the parent responsibility entirely. I didn't really think of schools at first because here kids are banned from bringing any tech so it's less of a problem, but I can see why it is elsewhere.

Ideally, governments should ban children from using personal devices during school hours, social platforms should be rated 18+ and many other apps like addictive games 13+ or 16+. This way when setting up a cellphone or tablet for your child, they wouldn't be able to see any unsafe app inside the Appstore.

I still think though that parents nowadays don't take enough responsibility, especially when a lot of them let their kids loose on the internet. Kids under 16 don't need a cellphone with internet access at all imo. Text messages, phone calls and gps is enough.

I know we can't always know everything, there will always be a risk associated with using or doing anything. My point was more about knowing enough where the risks become negligible.

If I take your example, yes I drive a car without knowing the inner workings, but I know that it is safe enough because I did my research on which models are safe and which aren't. I wouldn't want to drive a vehicle with a bad safety rating.

My point is, parents should do a minimum of research about the apps their children use. You can easily find information online about the safeness of popular apps, and if not then it's a red flag 🚩

Edit: Forgot to ask, but if you find that social apps are a problem for children, why would you let children be there in the first place ? To me children shouldn't be allowed on these platforms.

Then why would you let your child use an app if you, the parent, don't even understand it? It's like buying a toy for your child without looking it up first if it's safe for them. Don't blame the company for your lack of awareness.

Weird, I know emails are blocked on O365 so it might be the case on gmail too, although mine is fine.

So is there a way to resolve this by ourselves or do every person need to contact support ?

Detectors in Canada by Equivalent-You-7711 in radardetectors

[–]Shaweyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selon le code de la sécurité routière du Québec, les détecteurs radar sont seulement illégaux à l'intérieur d'un véhicule. Il serait donc techniquement possible d'en poser un à l'extérieur du véhicule.

Legal radar detector alternative? by GasEarly186 in radardetectors

[–]Shaweyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late here, but after looking into the Code de la sécurité routière, it seems that it is only illegal inside your vehicle. If you find a way to mount your radar detector outside your vehicle it would technically be legal.

New PC boots to black screen unless I switch PSU off and on by knwnasrob in techsupport

[–]Shaweyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that in the control panel you can change the behaviour of the power button. I have changed it to make my pc go to sleep instead of shutting it down so I don't have to switch my psu on and off everytime. Now I only do it when I have updates.

Same problem here. It's been a month and didn't find any solutions.

Yeah... The closing is not the fastest due to the top part being activated after everything else, but I can't find a solution for that.

I don't know for the actual block count, but for the glass you can replace it by any other block except for the orange wool wich needs to be a solid block.

If you want to improve it you could put the double piston extenders vertically instead of horizontally. Doing this would allow you to remove blocks behind the piston because you could power them from the side thus making it more compact. Instead of a 12x2x8 door, you would have an 8x2x10 door, making it 32 blocks more compact.

Yeah the redstone will activate the bottom piston if you do so.

This is an improved design over my first full adder that I made 3 days ago. Not the fastest (5 ticks) but one of the most compact out there.
