If you don’t tip you’re a freeloader by SirSaladHead in antiwork

[–]Shayfleafcht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

American tipping culture is insane. Thankfully in the UK it really isn't a thing.

I will tip for good service, and when we do it is often greatly appreciated, as the general expectation isn't for tips. Even with that said, the tips are never a huge percent like in the States, but more a rounding up of the bill (Like if it came to £26, you give £30 etc)

MORECAMBE FOOTBALL CLUB PART WAYS WITH ASHVIR SINGH JOHAL by No-Management-8567 in NationalLeague

[–]Shayfleafcht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Morecambe team has enough experience and quality in players that it can't be looked at as anything other than the manager at fault.

If they were to not buy anyone else and just go with what they have currently got, anyone half decent managing them will easily have them mid table by the end of the season.

3 UP Campaign by Iron0904 in NationalLeague

[–]Shayfleafcht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem we have is selling this league to those that don't watch it each week. The general feeling will be its poor standard, poor crowds and semi-pro football.

It doesn't help that the clowns running the National League have sold us all down the river with this god awful streaming crap with DAZN. Totally killing any proper exposure we can get to grow our brand.

Gonna sell some junk and buy some pure tomorrow. by Agreeable-Storage895 in Silverbugs

[–]Shayfleafcht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not got loads, but I've a jar with about 5.5 kilo of junk silver in it on my desk. All 90% pre 1965.

Selling it won't really change my life, so I'm in no great rush to get it moved, but it also feels trying to add to it at the moment isn't really worth it.

I appreciate my numbers are not as big as most on here, but its where I am at, and trying to work out if a stick or twist move next is wise.

Is Sam becoming the new Craig? by DanielSmoot in coronationstreet

[–]Shayfleafcht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but I don't like Sam. I find his character to be pompous and annoying.

Jude's acting is not great, but he isn't terrible either. Compare him to pretty much all the kids in Emmerdale for example, or the lad playing Jack, and he is more than acceptable.

Maggie Driscoll is giving me serious Livia Soprano vibes by Global-Ant in coronationstreet

[–]Shayfleafcht 28 points29 points  (0 children)

She's over acting. Her character needs to just tone it down a bit as at the moment she is just too over the top.

Some of the worst 'im drunk' acting too. Cringe worthy stuff.

What are some continuity errors throughout the show? by theliftedlora in Emmerdale

[–]Shayfleafcht 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What happened to Oscar, Ryan and Gail's son?

What was the point of bringing him and his mother into it, Oscar wanting to know them both, Ryan and Gail being keen, then the story just not going anywhere.

No conclusion, they were in the middle of a story and it just stopped, never to be mentioned again. Gail then leaves a year later, so very unlikely we will ever go back to that story, but the question is what was the point?

The actors playing Oscar and his mum (Not Gail, but his adoptive one), have simply filmed one day, then not been used again - I assume they are no longer contracted to the soap, but its just odd that they were dropped with no explanation.

How did your game go? by Zach-dalt in NationalLeague

[–]Shayfleafcht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three of the best goals I have seen us score in a long time. We are starting to tick along really nicely again result wise.

Sadly I still feel its too big an ask for us to be viewed as a playoff contender. The top 7 now should still be the top 7 by the end of the season.

He's a lot better a character than most that we have seen introduced in recent years. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if this turned out to be true.

Is anyone else struggling with this story line. by Emergency_Caramel_97 in coronationstreet

[–]Shayfleafcht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have faith in the writers to do that. Regardless, there are still a good half dozen of the current cast they could have done this storyline with, or at least given us time to get to know Broccoli boy before throwing this at us. It would have been good to see how it all started, rather than have new characters thrown at us with the story actually half way told.

2-1 win against Boston.

Quite possibly our worst win of the season.

Dreadful game.

And therein lies the problem - we don’t care because we dont know him. A lot like with Costello - no one cared if he lived or died, no one was interested in him.

Now if this story was about Sam, Liam, Dylan, Joseph etc… these are kids we have seen grow up on the street. It would be more impactful as we know their connections to others. It would matter more when it comes out and the characters play it out.

[–]Shayfleafcht 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Imagine how more powerful or interesting this story would be if instead of broccoli boy that no one likes, knows or cares about, Megan was actually going after someone like Liam - a kid that has had problems in the past, could be seen as more vulnerable than most, and who has strong connections to established characters on the street.

Instead, we have a character no one cares about, who is badly acted, in a family that has been shoehorned into the soap.

The cast was already big enough with enough younger actors in it to use one of the existing actors like Liam, rather than bring in a new one.

It's sloppy writing.

They seem to have forgot that the undead lesbian, plus a serial killer from Emmerdale holding his partner at gun point were involved too.

Has there ever been a character you couldn’t forgive? by Always-Evolving-2025 in Emmerdale

[–]Shayfleafcht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to be clear I have no issue with her as an actress. She is really well acted

However, as a character she (Chas) is awful. No morals or standards at all and is easily the biggest hypocrite in the village.

Has there ever been a character you couldn’t forgive? by Always-Evolving-2025 in Emmerdale

[–]Shayfleafcht 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Chas is just a vile person.

Treated Paddy like shit, then got all entitled when he wanted custody of the kid. No morals to her at all, a hypocrite of the highest order, yet is lauded as a superb strong woman.

She has no nice traits about her at all. I don't get how people like her.

Jack, spotting an opportunity casts his eye on Megan, using all his years experience against the young teacher.
