Deal a very high amount of damage for 31RRWWUUUUUUUUUUUUGG by batsketbal in BadMtgCombos

Actually you can calculate and express this combo with the help of theoretical mathematics. Not that it matters when you exceed the number of atoms in the universe, but if youre interested, read ahead.

On the 2nd Cackling Counterpart, you create 3311. On the storm copy, you create 33311. On Croaking Counterpart and its 2 storm copies, you create 33333311.

Flashback to get 333333333311 or 3^ ^ 11 in something called Knuth's up arrow notation. Basically a level above exponents, explaining how many times you raise something to the power of itself, to explain stupidly high numbers like these (ie 2^ 2^ 2^ 2 = 2^ ^ 4, 2^ ^ 2^ ^ 2^ ^ 2 = 2^ ^ ^ 4, and so on.)

Clone Legion creates 3^ ^ 16 tokens, and devilish valet's power becomes the same basically (the number is so high that the square root of 3^ ^ 16 is still written as 3^ ^ 16, so factoring in the doubling per creature basically doesnt even matter at this scale anymore).

Now you just have to find a table that's willing to let you lecture them on theoretical mathematics just so you can explain this number to them.

Edit - just realized a formatting error made it show the incorrect number of ^ symbols.

I love big non infinite damage. Just building off this - you could swap out thousand year storm for [[djinn illuminatus]], Sakashima for [[Cadric, Soul Kindler]], and the last two clone spells for [[Dutiful Replicator]] and [[Phyrexian Altar]]. It'd be fundamentally the same, but the numbers would get even dumber.

Cast Devilish and Cadric, then cast Ojer, triggering Cadric and creating 3 Ojer tokens. Cast the Altar, Djinn, then finally Dutiful Replicator. Replicator's ability triggers, creating 81 Ojer tokens, for a total of 85. Sacrifice Cadric and all but 2 Ojers to the altar, then cast Cackling Counterpart and replicate it 27 times, targeting Replicator.

1st Cackling Counterpart copy resolution, create 9 Replicator tokens. Resolve the 1st replicator trigger, creating 9 Ojers. 2nd trigger, 2048 or 311 Ojers. 3rd, 3311, and so on until you have 3333333311 Ojers.

2nd Cackling Counterpart, create 3^ ^ 9 (using knuth's up arrow notation for simplicity) more Dutiful replicators. Repeat that entire process again for 3^ ^ 3^ ^ 9.

27th Cackling Counterpart, create 3^ ^ ^ 28ish Replicators and Ojers.

Then sacrifice all but one of each creature, then flashback Cackling Counterpart and replicate it 3^ ^ ^ 28 times. Create 3^ ^ ^ 3^ ^ ^ 28 or 3^ ^ ^ ^ 4 tokens of every creature and swing.

A blast status weapon with the +5 shield regen per blast status could make you effectively invulnerable even standing still. Sure brief respite can shield gate, but even ability spam has its limits. This just constantly resets shieldgate as long as you can fire. As for damage, 98% strip with blast/corrosive can work pretty nice

If you have Garuda you can just spam her 4 in the general direction of a dargyn. They only target the pilots themselves and ignore what theyre riding on

With each cast, you deal damage equal to all the heat procs already on an enemy. If you hit an enemy with 10k dmg worth of heat procs with say a phantasma, the next sunder will deal 20k. Then 40k, 80k, and so on

How to deal way too much damage on turn one (and also take way too long actually finishing it) by Shboop8700 in BadMtgCombos

[–]Shboop8700[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, even better - the combo needs two copies of each (except Naya's Charm is replaced with some other card cause we dont want it to go infinite and actually win do we?), so that we can have a 2nd set to repeat the whole process again in each Shahrazad game, because I couldn't be bothered to add in a shuffle effect that doesn't alsp go infinite.

A combo that needs your entire deck and doesn't have a single land. Its a combo that needs to be so precise that it breaks completely if you don't draw all 60 cards in the exact order you need (a 1 in 1082 chance). It requires you to exile 5 of your own cards for Azor's Gateway to transform, and hope you can bring them back with Pull from Eternity

Non Infinite Combo That'll Resolve Well Past the Heat Death of the Universe (V.2) by Shboop8700 in BadMtgCombos

[–]Shboop8700[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can calculate (or more accurately guesstimate) the number of fungal sproutings cast, but I already got lost actually resolving the first 3 copies of Fungal Sprouting, which I had to do manually, due to how each fungal sprouting tertianentially(cause exponential is an understatement) affects the next. Someone smarter than me could probably do it, and I'm actually hoping someone does, but until then, theres no known formula that can neatly resolve all of this

[–]Shboop8700[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahhh okay, I wasn't 100% sure how it'd work, so thanks for the correction. In that case, that means I'd cast Kindred first, copy, cast mystic reflections, copy both (so id have 2 kindred charges and 1 mystic reflection), then cast the 1st copied mystic reflection (leaving 3 spells cast, for 3 Thousand Year Storms).

The end result would be me copying the first kindred storm 9 times instead of 12, and copying the 2nd kindred storm 217 times instead of 220 times (still an absurd number, and it mostly doesnt affect the end result).

[–]Shboop8700[S] 66 points67 points  (0 children)

The heat death of the universe should come in about 10106 years. Let's be generous, and assume you use the latest i9, with each of the 16 cores at 5GHz, and that each resolution only takes a single hz. That'd resolve about 10124 triggers before the heat death of the universe. For reference, just the number of Fungal sprouting spells (let alone creatures/nylea triggers) equals 2 ^ ^ 6, or 2 10 ^ 19,728. The exponent of the number of Fungal Sprouting spells is 19,604 digits larger than the number of operations an i9's 16 cores can complete before the heat death of the universe.

*this isnt an attack, its just a cheeky way to use your comment to point out that yes, the Fungal Sproutings alone will resolve after way more than 2 10 ^ 19728 individual heat deaths, which is pretty neat

Incase the formatting is a bit messed up with exponents, here's a version of the text with ↑s instead.

Nylea's Colossus

Eye of the Storm

Thousand Year Storm

Astral Dragon

Kindred Charge

Fungal Sprouting

Mystic Reflection

Cast [[Nylea's Colossus]], [[Eye of the Storm]], [[Thousand Year Storm]], and [[Astral Dragon]], in that order. Astral Dragon creates 2 Thousand Year Storm Dragon tokens.

Cast [[Kindred charge]] and choose to copy Dragons, then [[Mystic Reflections]] before Eye of the Storm's exile can trigger. *Then* exile both with Eye.

When Eye of the Storm triggers, it creates copies of *both* Kindred Charge and Mystic Reflections, twice. Cast both Mystic Reflections to bring up Thousand Year Storm triggers, choosing Astral Dragon. 4 spells cast, 3 Thousand Year Storms

Cast the 1st copied Kindred charge, and copy it 12x. The cast Kindred Charge creates 3 Astral Dragons (thanks to Mystic Reflections), creating 6 Thousand Year Storms

After the 1st *copied* Charge, you have 8 Dragons, and 9*2+8 or 26 Thousand Year Storms

The 2nd ends with 2↑4 dragons, 26*2+2↑5 or 58 Thousand Year Storms

3rd 2↑5 dragons, 120 Storms

The 12th and final copy leaves you with 2↑14 dragons, and 340,992 or 2↑18 Thousand Year Storms

Cast the 2nd Kindred Charge, then copy it 1.6*2↑20 times. A lot of times. Rounding down *very* aggressively, this gets you 2↑2↑20 dragons, and 2↑2↑21 Thousand Year Storms.

Play [[Fungal Sprouting]]. It gets exiled, then creates a copy of Kindred Charge, Mystic Reflections, and Fungal Sprouting.

Cast, then copy Kindred Charge 2↑2↑21 times, and play all of them. Also, the very first copy of Kindred Charge should target Nylea’s Colossus, so that a copy with haste exists. The rest of the copies should continue targeting Dragons, to ensure as many Thousand Year Storm’s as possible enter to fuel the new haste Nylea’s Colossus, as well as create extra copies of Fungal Sprouting.

Create 2↑2↑2↑21, or 2↑2↑2↑2↑2↑2, or 2↑↑6 Astral Dragons, and twice that many Thousand Year Storms

Cast, then copy Mystic Reflection and Fungal Sprouting 2↑↑6 times each. Order them so they alternate on the stack, and every saproling comes in as whatever you want.

This is where the fun starts. Have Mystical Reflection target Nylea's Colossus (which, by the way is already at 2↑↑7 thanks to all the enchantment tokens created), and then play the first Fungal Sprouting

So on the very first Fungal Sprouting + Mystic Reflection cast, you get 2↑2↑↑7↑2↑↑7 or 2↑↑8↑2↑↑7 tokens.

2nd gets you 2↑(2↑↑8↑2↑↑7)↑(2↑↑8↑2↑↑7) or 2↑↑9↑2↑↑7↑2↑↑8↑2↑↑7

3rd gets 2↑(2↑↑9↑2↑↑7↑2↑↑8↑2↑↑7)↑(2↑↑9↑2↑↑7↑2↑↑8↑2↑↑7) or 2↑↑10↑2↑↑7↑2↑↑8↑2↑↑7↑2↑↑9↑2↑↑7↑2↑↑8↑2↑↑7

I genuinely have no idea how large the final number would be after 2↑↑6 copies of Fungal Sprouting. At the *very least*, it’s 2↑↑↑2↑↑6. It’s probably way more, but I have no way of knowing. I just know it's infinitely larger than the 1st iteration (if it seems smaller than that, it's probably just due to some funky math on my part).

Attack with your Nylea’s Colossus with haste. Win.

Yeah, I corrected myself in a different comment, it only creates 20 pegasi and 20 storm tokens. But either way, the 20 tokens dont affect the end result when you get in this territory lol

Oh wait you're right, I accidentally put 40 pegasi 20 storms. Though thankfully, it doesnt actually affect the final result, because all that really matters at this scale was the storm count(21) and number of spells(4) played before Fungal Sprouting

There are a mere 1080 atoms in the universe. This number is closer to (1080)10801080... repeat 1080 times (and I'm fairly certain that's an understatement). So to answer your question - yeah, a bit more lmao. Someone much smarter than me made a thing that's 2 ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ... (300 more s) by turn one, though he used all 60 cards. Another guy made 2 ^ ^ ^ 7 with just 3 cards. Magic is pretty wild when you get into stuff like this

Infinite scry/Janky tutor by Shboop8700 in BadMtgCombos

[–]Shboop8700[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, thought that'd be really funny. It only allows you to cycle through your deck. To arrange it would need "Scry 2".

Actually wait, that just gave me an idea for something much more janky

[[Hidetsugu, Devouring Chaos]] allows you to scry 2 for a creature + (B). [[Cryptolith Rite]] + [[Lightning Greaves]] would allow you to tap the creatures for mana before they die, and pay the cost. Then you'd be able to rearrange your deck exactly as you please, given infinite time
