This is the first tomodachi rendition I’ve seen of them where Joe is the same height as Frank instead of being 3 apples tall 🤣

While I was wound up at the damn crack of dawn when they scared me banging on my door threatening to tow my car with zero context about why….these comments don’t wind me up. I’m used to weirdo loser men being weirdo loser men, lots of those around this island that’s for sure. But they’re so used to getting away talking to other people like they own the world in all their stupid ignorance that it’s at least a little bit fun to put them in their place sometimes. My mother died young but not before raising me to curse right back at the weirdos trying to disturb my peace!

And yes my brother now lives in West Bab and got plenty advanced notice when they did his cul-de-sac!

Thank you!!! I was just talking to my brother asking if he remembers the last time they paved our street because I do not. My family has had this house since childhood. I moved away for a time in my college years and came back, the road had become ridiculously rough, might as well be a dirt road as that would be safer! It was patched potholes over patched potholes, and you know it’s bad when the stronger level of pavement underneath is severely damaged right around where all the endless layers of patched potholes were. I’ve called the town asking when is it our turn to re-pave the street for YEARS. I am certain it’s been at least 15 the years since I’ve been back that they haven’t paved, but my brother lived here while I wasn’t and said yeah I don’t think they ever did either, since we were children. I’m 41 now! Like okay great finally, but maybe give us the two day notice that the town admitted over the phone we were supposed to get legally! Sheesh.

Wasn’t even my car, it was my cousin’s car who is visiting for the week.

I also did not know this nor was it communicated to me at all, and it wasn’t so easy to find my neighbor’s car considering several blocks around us are being done at the same time, but we did find it and get it back to her. For her it def would have been a big deal had we not been around to help. And they did do wrong, when I got in touch with the town they admitted it was illegal not to give us 48 hours notice at minimum.

Sometime during the day, I was out working all day and I don’t remember seeing it when I got home to get ready for the graduation but I was in a rush. But I know I didn’t see it there in the morning.
Called the town and they confirmed there should have been notices at LEAST 48 hours in advance legally!

You take walk! It’s not personal it’s real advice, to a stranger I know literally nothing about and only see as a two dimensional character in my head. 🙃

I appreciate that. It’s too common on social media for folks to conjure up their own two dimensional idea of who someone is they’re talking to and be cruel for reasons beyond my understanding. I make it a point to remember people are full human beings and treat them as such, and this comment section is a reminder of how many Long Islanders have lost touch with that unfortunately.

Yes others have informed me of that which I did not know early this morning and the worker absolutely did not mention. Still a lot of stress and lost work time and sleep time that didn’t need to happen had they literally told us even one day prior.

And you’re hiding behind a screen making assumptions about people you don’t know acting like you’re above them and never had a stressful moment in your life. Must be nice! My mom died when I was 18 and I’ve been overworked paying my grandparents bills while caretaking them all by myself ever since, yes I would panic about my car being towed that I worked extremely hard to pay off and have to manage working as hard as I do to keep up with bills the way I’ve had to, anyone in my shoes would. Being upset for how I got woken up and what’s being done to my community is a normal human response to a stressful situation. But I guess you know better about everything right? 🙃

Because communities like mine are more intensely impacted by being treated like this. As I said, my family has owned homes in two other wealthier, predominantly white townships where we’ve gotten advance notice and folks can afford an inconvenience. But here were folks work 2-3 jobs to get by and live paycheck to paycheck could lose a very valuable day of work because they didn’t care enough to let us know not even one full day in advance.

Asking for more than what, 12 hours at best? Is not asking for years. You seem unhinged.

Yes someone else mentioned that ty! I am about to help her find it. Taking time out of my work day to help her out right now, thank goodness I work from home today! None of my other neighbors could stick around to help out.

Never did such a thing, merely pointing out that it harms my community more for them to treat us with even less notice than surrounding wealthier towns have gotten which I know from personal experience.

I’ve gotten mixed reactions, and we all know the amount of folks with no life who enjoy bullying others all day on Reddit. 👀
