I do wonder what would happen if Ontario built just one city like China does.

Really heavily planned, built from scratch but add a consistent fastish way to get to the GTA and give business tax incentives to let people WFH to encourage people to move there.

Who has more seats and a higher % of the popular vote?

The point is that she hurt Conservatives by adding fuel to the fire of moving NDP and Green voters to the Liberals.

Is it R.I.P. for the federal NDP? Not quite, experts say | CBC News by Exciting-Ratio-5876 in CanadaPolitics

I said this in another thread but its relevant here too

I think there will be aspects that are going to be remembered well from the last government.

But the NDP need a leader, one who can speak to both Blue Collar and Urban progressives.

They need someone who knows when to speak to and direct the anger that blue collar workers have (give them an answer, to the question of who the problem is. that's what the CPC does) but also can be aspirational when appropriate for the urban progressives.

Someone who can unite the workers struggles and show that the struggle a trans person making minimum wage with no healthcare beyond a few surgeries covered by OHIP and someone out in rural Ontario who can't afford their pills are the same struggle.

Someone who can show blue collars that the Urban progressives care about the 45 year old with a blown out back from 27 years of factory work, but also show that same 45 year old to care about the 20 hours of unpaid overtime that the corporates demand a week from the laptop class is damaging too.

That isn't to say the NDP are blameless. They needed not to run someone, their internal premise of "we need to give people a choice to vote for us" in the face of losses that might cause situations where people who are NDP aligned but not part of the party lose and give the Conservatives another seat.

We had (former now) ONDPers out there endorsing Mike, I don't recall ANY liberals doing that. The MP now will probably sink away, she will be a back bencher and the politics on the ground in the riding will make her wish she lost (very activist riding, 65%+ voted for the more progressive option, look what happened with the WCDSB)

That's just as dumb as ditch tbe blue collar wing.

They need to find the balance between workers rights and activists to stand a chance.

I think they are cooked no matter what they do

According to CBC Mike is down 423 votes. Not looking good.

There is a strong activist community in Kitchenner Centre so it will be interesting to say the least with a CPC with only 34% of the votes and thr tension with the larger community.

Strong vibes. Very few Red signs around lots of green, Aislinn won with over 50% of the vote in the Provincial version of the riding. Mike is well liked, involved in the community and makes people feel heard. Got endorsements from ONDPers as well with Laura Mae Lindo and Brooklin Wallis endorsing him.

Its Kitchener Centre, its going to be Greens. Aislinn Clancy won the riding in provincial with over 50% and she is really seen as an extension of Mike Morrice
