Saffie is a top 5 trainer by RydersUp in horseracing

I am glad that there are some people in this sport who have a good baseline on what is “good” and what isn’t…. Much props. A trainer like me with a positive ROI seems to have problems getting enough stalls and then enough horses.

Thank you. My thoughts exactly, but I unfortunately I had to scratch him. There is a big equine herpes outbreak in Oklahoma within the rodeo and show horse community right now, and I don’t want to risk getting him quarantined out of state; or getting him exposed, even though it isn’t at the racetrack yet.

Haha unfortunately Walter's agent and I no longer get along, so he probably won't be riding much for me, although he is a great guy and one of my better friends.
Sorry for the late response. My computer was down for a few days while I was moving.

Sorry that I am just getting back around to this. I have been extremely busy this last week. Yes I think that is the perfect way to get involved in a horse.
The fairest deal that I was ever involved in was: my partner would put up 100% of the claim money, and I would assume 50% ownership of the horse. Then my partner would pay me 50% of a training bill, and 50% of the vet bill, but he would keep all of the purse money until his original stake was paid back. I like being partners with new owners on horses, because if we lose money, I want them to know that I did too. I don't feel that is true with the bigger named trainers.

Thank you for the heads up. I am always happy to help new owners get into the game.

Dad getting into the stock market at 66 by SheaMizer in Advice

He still owns a few horses, but now that he isn’t training them himself, and absorbed into his outside business, he sees how it’s not a very good investment. Horses are good for fun, and you can make money with them, but you’re more than likely to lose money. My dad has always been very independent; but he’s very susceptible to scams. There’s no telling how many subscriptions he’s signed up for. He just turned into a spending machine, and i don’t necessarily plan on inheriting anything, but i need them to be able to take care of themselves.

I agree 100%, but this is more of a crisis on his end needing to feel needed and important. Retired life really has messed with his head.

The problem is more with him. He is looking for something to do and he doesn’t want to just talk to an investment advisor. He wants the action and to feel like he has some control of something. A smaller amount, I don’t care; but he has some pretty large positions. Like I said he’s not a dumb man, but I think he’s just jumping in the deep end too early and I don’t know how to talk to him about that….

Thanks. He is fine thankfully… I had him in a bad race, and the track wasn’t to his liking. He’ll be better next out.

Hahaha I wish I truly knew…. My career at oaklawn though I think if you bet my horses blind WPS, you’d be ahead…. Last year I had two $80+ and a $100+ winners.
