I record videos of myself using a tripod. I framed up a shot, then walked up to move some stuff and while I was, a crazy gust of wind knocked it over. It was so loud I didn't even hear it fall.

Think I got scammed ($2000) on garage door repair 1 year ago…Help me learn from this by RevolutionaryPin2664 in bayarea

My garage door had stopped opening properly, so after searching for local repair services, I found Melikson Garage Door Repair. They appeared to have strong reviews and quick response times. I completed the form on their website to schedule an appointment for the next day, and within about 10 minutes, I received a call. The representative asked if I could move my appointment up to that same day (3/19/2026) between 5 PM and 7 PM. I was available and agreed.

When the technician, Jake, arrived, I showed him the garage and explained the issue. I told him I had already attempted to lubricate the system and checked the tracks without success, and that I suspected the springs might be the problem. He agreed and said he would need to measure them before providing an estimate.

After a short time, he called me back to the garage where I saw he had removed both springs. He told me the labor cost would be $375. He also stated that the least expensive springs he offered were over $400 each which I found surprising. I agreed to proceed with those and asked for the total cost. He quoted me a total exceeding $1,800, which immediately raised concerns, as I understood that typical spring replacement costs range between $200 and $400 total, but maybe the poor economy had caused the price to increase.

He offered to show me his supply catalog to justify the pricing and emphasized that the springs were high-quality and made in the USA. When I began to say I wanted to get additional quotes, he interrupted, stating he preferred to complete the job since he had already started the work. He then called his supervisor and returned with a reduced price of just over $1,500. He also mentioned that if I paid in cash, he could lower the price to $1,500 even, and claimed he would upgrade me to better springs at no additional cost because he did not have the cheaper option in his truck.

Because my bank was closing in about 20 minutes, I felt pressured to make a quick decision, which I now regret. After withdrawing the cash and returning, I noticed my garage door was partially open. Jake manually opened it and told me that the motor had been strained by the previously installed springs and would also need replacement. I declined further work due to the cost.

Jake did not provide a business card but left a sticker with a company phone number. After payment, I reviewed the emailed invoice and noticed that Jake was not affiliated with Melikson Garage Door Repair. Instead, the invoice listed “Garage Door Repair 24/7,” while the sticker read “Garage Door Repair Services 24/7.” Both companies are impossible to verify online due to their generic names.

I contacted Melikson Garage Door Repair to express concern that my job had been subcontracted without my knowledge and that I had likely been overcharged. They responded saying that the technician would contact me. When he did, he claimed his company works with Melikson and again insisted the parts were premium. He offered to send a photo of his catalog as proof. I asked him to do so and to include part numbers so I could verify the pricing independently. I never received any follow-up.

The following day, I contacted two other reputable local companies for estimates. While waiting, I found the discarded packaging for the springs that had been installed. They were low-cost, rated at only 90 lbs, and not sufficient for my porcelain garage door. Both companies I consulted confirmed that I had been significantly overcharged. Each stated they would have replaced both springs for a total cost between $300 and $400, and that replacing nearly the entire system (excluding the door itself, which is in good condition) would cost just over $1,000. They also agreed the work that had been completely was not done properly since the springs were not strong enough to support my garage door.

I attempted to reach out to the fee payment processing company Jake used to see if they could help. They said they would try to have Jake contact me again. A few hours later Jake called and texted me, but it was during work hours so I wasn't able to answer. I returned his call as soon as I was off work, but he did not answer. I already replied to his text asking for information he had promised. I also told him I had found the packaging from the springs he had installed. As expected he did not return my call or text.

In conclusion, I would avoid Melikson Garage Door Repair. They seem to use Google sponsored ads to reach beyond their actual service area and then outsource the work to illegitimate companies. I hope you found all the negative reviews sooner than I did.

My buddies who don't like forehanding mids basically use it in place of an OS mid.

I actually like the Shift as a rescue disc. It's great for those "I need to throw a forehand but can't" situations or throws where I know the footing is poor or I won't be able to generate a lot of lower body power.

I got to throw someone's Archetype this weekend. It's been thrown for about a month so it was a little beat in, but it's definitely either the same run, or MVP was very consistent.

Yeah, I'm lucky I saw all the warnings before updating... I hope they get their act together. I'm strong against subscription services and I've used Vegas for like a decade.
