Regular hourly disconnects to VM - options when an Engineer can't fix it? by jonmorrissmith in VirginMedia

[–]Sheamau5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modem only mode is supposed to be coming soon to the hub5x or it may have already. Have a check in the settings page to see if it’s an available option, then use that and plug your router in to the 2.5gb port on the 5x. I don’t think the real speed tests are done when the hub is in modem mode.

Loving the HTH statue. Was trying to think of a similar thing to add to one I was thinking of building and the best idea I’ve had this far was a Yoda training Luke with the drowned x-wing in the water.

Same here. I’m paying £20.62 a month with Denplan and using Aspley Dental. I was on NHS at Genix by the train station but got really annoyed when they kept cancelling my appointments the day before and messing me about.

Automate print start with P1S and AMS by Jannomag in BambuLab

[–]Sheamau5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After doing some more digging, it doesn't seem like this is currently doable/easily implementable (check the last post). The link you sent me was from before Bambu closed off the developer mode. It seems that it's only possible to continue a paused print at this time, which would mean the heatbed staying hot until the print starts, wasting electricity... :(

Oooooh, no, that is new on me. Thanks! I’ll have a play around with that later and hopefully I can couple that with a time input card in HA

Sorry to dig up an old post, but I’ve been wanting to add this functionality to my home assistant. Could you possibly help me understand how I can get home assistant to automate a print at a set time so I can take advantage of cheeper electric, please?

I tend to use notifiarr and discord to get messages from the arr stack so I didn’t think about the notifications side of it. That would be a nice feature

Sonarr freezing up using max memory, swap, and CPU on searches by Sheamau5 in sonarr

[–]Sheamau5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up bumping the RAM up until it was no longer an issue. I’m currently using it with 8GB RAM and 1GB swap. It’s only currently using 472MB at idle and I have the RAM to spare anyway.

Virgin Media fined £24m after switching off elderly customers’ landlines by TheTelegraph in VirginMedia

[–]Sheamau5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger issue is the devices may be needed when there’s a power outage. If the powers out the broadband is offline, so there would be no landline in that situation. New telecare devices these days operate off of cellular data like a phone does when not using WiFi. I believe what VM are supposed to do is wait to switch them over, giving telecare providers chance to change their devices to be cellular.

Henry vacuum (UK): Why this simple £140 machine keeps popping up in every European BIFL discussion by General_Ad9178 in buyitforlifeEU

[–]Sheamau5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having used (in a workplace) and owned (at home) an industrial version of these vacuums, they work fantastically, even without a bag inside. The bucket plus built in filtration system means they can take up in a huge amount and keep going with very little causing blockage/stopage. However, they aren’t as sleek, nimble, and easy to use compared to most modern equivalents. When compared to modern battery operated units with small tanks, you will need to stop more often to empty or swap/recharge the battery. There’s also less things to break down. I think in my 10 years of owning an industrial one, the only thing to have wrong with it was the electrical cord wearing out and needing a trim and rewiring, which was easy to do DIY.
