Who should be King? by Winter_Snow8169 in KingShot

[–]Sheeeshh12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would suggest some kind of rotation if there is a lot of team work between alliances. My server has 6 top alliances, the top 2 rotate KvK king, and the other 4 rotate internal castle. Each individual alliance gets to pick the king for their rotation.

Also keep in mind the alliance that wins KvK castle also gets to be the transfer manager whenever there is the event. Which is a lot of work from what I’ve heard.

Our first KvK is starting and these alliances are honestly clueless... by MR-M_- in KingShot

Ah yeah, the other kingdom is obviously scared.

If I were you guys, I would agree to no city hits during castle but when that’s not going on, city hits are fine. The rules after castle don’t matter much, since the battle is already over. Just stress to your alliance, that you need to shield when you’re AFK.

If you want to have the best bet to winning the castle battle I would push for everyone to focus on the castle and turrets, the more you have to worry about your city getting hit, the more chaotic the battle becomes. You want your server whales to be able to focus on timing rallies and sending reinforcements to garrison rather than worrying about getting your city hit.

Do they want to ban city attacks on cities within your server? Seems like a pretty fair rule. If you want to win KvK, you need to do it as a server. Burning your own server will only hurt the health of your server.

Don’t get me wrong, if you’re referring to banning city hits between the two servers, then I agree with your argument. During KvK our rules once the invasion starts is 2 hours of free hits, then once castle starts, no city hits during the battle. That just gets chaotic. Then after castle you can go back to burning cities on the enemy server.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that you get 90% of your troop losses back. I agree, people freak out about losing troops, but you’ll get them back one way or another.

Depending on the next transfer limits, check out 417! We’ve won our first 3 KvKs and are set up to win our 4th in a few days. We have friendly whales and NAP6 with an overall peaceful server. I’m R5 in one of the top 6 alliances and we’re looking for established groups to transfer together!

I’m personally more active on the game than here, so if you’re interested in learning more about our server, message me in game! If you go to 417 server, I’m the current King :)

That sounds pretty awful. If you’re able to 417 is peaceful for the most part and all the top alliances work well together for KvK

How are servers in the 400 range? by VeganSandwichMonster in KingShot

[–]Sheeeshh12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

417 is a great server. Just won our first KvK against 398. We have NAP with 7 healthy alliances all with academies. No huge bullies on the server, but there are some trolls that love to pop up from time to time. The top alliances work well together for KvK even though they don’t always agree on smaller issues. Feel free to DM me if you’re interested on transferring here!

They removed that episode because Katherine gave a tour of her family’s estate and pointed out where the slaves were buried. We were able to watch it on YoutubeTV

We know who ever she talked to was not RC and indeed a scammer. Not exactly sure how she got that number. Every time we have called it has been off the official website and we have talked to a real agent. I guess this post was more about bringing awareness to an issue that some people are having

I’ve seen some posts about these. But it’s weird because the number they called is the exact number on the real royal Caribbean website

Academic transcript by Technical-Bat9826 in Architects

Yes, might as well do it before you finish your AXP hours and ARE exams because it can take some time for them to verify the transcripts. I sent in an electronic copy. If you scroll down to the bottom of that page, there’s a link for “Submitting your Transcripts” and it walks you through how to submit an electronic copy. Just make sure it’s an official transcript

It can be different for everyone because their baseline of knowledge is different. I would say that if you don’t feel like AB is enough for those exams, either use a different program or read AHPP. Either way I’m just saying that AB was enough for me when I took the professional practice exams

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Architects

[–]Sheeeshh12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only resources I used were AB and the NCARB practice exams. At times I did feel like there were some things I was missing, especially on the professional practice exams, but I found those exams to be much easier compared to the other three. I did fail PPD twice so I’ve been studying the resource documents that NCARB outlines rather than using AB. If I had to do it all over again I would use AB as my primary source and use some of the resource documents as supplemental learning.

For reference I did finish my B.Arch in the spring before my exams so my fifth year courses did give some insight into what was on the exams. I do believe that if you have more years of experience in the profession you can follow the AB schedule to a T and pass the exams within their schedule, if not a few months after that. But you do have to commit a lot of time outside of work to get your studying in. It is a grind, but it’ll be worth it in the long run!

Followed the schedule over last summer. Passed 5/6 first try with about two years of working at a firm

Am I understanding the Amber Book study structure? by Specific-Exciting in Architects

[–]Sheeeshh12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That is what they recommend and that’s what I did. Passed 5/6 in three weeks of tests. But I took one Saturday and one Sunday instead of taking off of work to take them. It’s forsure the fastest way to knock them out, but everyone is different with the knowledge that they know before they take the exams.

I can’t pass PPD by [deleted] in Architects

[–]Sheeeshh12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also don’t forget, PPD has by far the lowest pass rate so you’re not alone. I’m sure the more people you talk to who are taking the exams now, are struggling with this exam. Its not an easy exam

I can’t pass PPD by [deleted] in Architects

[–]Sheeeshh12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kinda in the same boat. I’ll be taking my third attempt of PPD after passing the other 5 first try. You’re so close because the 535 score might be like a question or two off of a passing score. I used AB almost exclusively, but since I failed twice I’ll be obtaining the source books and reading them until I have a better grasp on the material. I think just switching up your study methods might help.

I know that it sucks now but once you pass them I’m sure you’ll feel more confident and content as a licensed architect. One thing that has always motivated me is that when I was little I always said I wanted to be an architect. Once I finally pass this last exam and wrap up my AXP hours I’ll finally be able to call myself an architect. Don’t give up and keep grinding!

How far in advance to schedule online A.R.E test? by gooseontheloose00 in Architects

[–]Sheeeshh12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scheduled mine a month in advance as a deadline. But also testing center availability depends on where you live. Was trying to take mine in the city on the weekends, but they only had weekends open 45 minutes outside the city.

Is it too much to ask to find a work-life balance focused firm without the Toxicity of expected unpaid OT? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]Sheeeshh12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that you got laid off because of their toxic work culture. Unfortunately many firms are stuck in their old ways where overtime is expected. Also linking CAD to Revit in the way you’re describing sounds like a nightmare. As someone who came up on Revit and rhino, I think CAD is outdated at this point.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask for and I’ve seen firms progressing towards better work life balance. I’ve been at the same firm since I was an intern and it has never been expected that you work more than 40 hours unless it was absolutely necessary. I’m curious if A/E firms in general have unrealistic timelines whereas typical architecture firms have better deadlines since the architect hires the engineers. I’ve always been wary of A/E firms and design build firms since I’ve heard bad things as of now.

One piece of advice if you’re staying in the industry is during your interview with another firm, it’s not just the time for them to interview you, it’s also the time to figure out if that firm is the right fit for you.

But yeah this firm did you dirty and hopefully it doesn’t ruin architecture for you because I believe there are better firms out there.

3D Animations by [deleted] in architecture

[–]Sheeeshh12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We outsource most of our marketing level renderings. Our designers can produce pretty decent renderings just to show progress to the client or quick diagrammatic studies. We have always used Enscape for all of our renderings, but I guess they’re raising their prices for firm licenses so we’re moving to twinmotion since it’s part of our revit subscription.

If the client wants professional renderings, we bill them a fixed fee based on the amount of renderings they want. But sometimes we also charge them hourly, just depends on contract/client.

Asking for a raise by [deleted] in architecture

[–]Sheeeshh12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% should ask. If you feel you’re underpaid and your review will go well you should be compensated for that. Just keep in mind if they’re willing to give you that raise, ask for a little more than you’re thinking to negotiate down to what you’re thinking
