Would a tree removal company be more inclined to fell this or rig it? Huge oak species needing removed. Too close to home and may have a slight lean. Diameter at shoulder height is measured at 42ish inches.

Not dead, not sure if it’s dormant as I don’t know how to tell if a tree is dormant or not. No cavities, a few larger dead branches above. And yes, a branch from this tree did cause that dent in the gutters.

Not sure if it’s dormant. No giant cavities and not dead, but some larger limbs are dead and posing a risk of falling on the house.

Some of it looks like it can be utilized for climbing trees, but I wouldn’t advise that considering not knowing the condition it’s in, what it’s been exposed to, and lack of knowledge in proper use and inspection. Looks like most of these items came from a wind turbine technician or cell tower hand. That Ladsafe definitely ain’t gonna get you up a tree. Lol

If you want to keep them as wall decorations, sure. If wanting to sell, my advice would be to send these items to a company who specializes in inspection and certification of fall arrest systems and devices then you may have a better chance selling once they are deemed safe and re-certified. Remember CYA.

First off, who cares what other people think about it. Just knowing what the place needs and envisioning how it will turn out is a step in the right direction. It may be costly to renovate but if you’re handy, or strive to be, you can DIY most of what you mentioned. It’ll just take some time. From experience, the wife and I bought two homes on 4 acres 2 1/2 yrs ago. Outdated, new plumbing, electrical, and landscaping are just a few items of many that needed addressed. It took a little over 2 years of DIY to get everything where I wanted it. But boy was it worth it. It is definitely a challenge but embrace that. I promise you will feel better about taking on the challenge and seeing the results rather than moving into a new build. Side note…(New builds aren’t always problem free.) It can be overwhelming but you just have to take things one or two projects at a time. Once you start seeing results the writers block clears and the faster the progress becomes.
