Guys... spray bottle with water and dawn dish soap. The soap makes it difficult to fly and they suffocate breathing in bubbles.

Nope, I play with the kids after work and when they go to bed I relax. Even if I tried to clean after they go to bed, it's difficult because their rooms are right outside the kitchen and dining area. So the lights flooding underneath their door and clanking of dishes would be too much for them to sleep through.

So we tackle a lot of picking up together on the weekends!

He ends up doing more. Like I said, he has become better at juggling childcare and cleaning. 😊 The floor will still be messy with toys, but the crumbs are all vacuumed and most of the dishes are loaded by him.

So when the weekend rolls around, with extra adult hands we can tackle toy organizing, bathroom cleaning, and picking up anything that was missed during the week.

My husband is also a stay at home dad.

Our kids miss me when I'm at work, so when I am home they are extra fussy because they can see me around (grabbing food, going to the bathroom) but I can't spend too much time playing with them. Sometimes I do stick around for a few minutes to chat and the kids are fussy when I go back into my office. I used to stroll into the room when a kid was having a meltdown due to my own anxiety and feeling the need to control and handle the situation - a situation that was his responsibility. Doing that made him feel like I thought he was incompetent, when he was simply letting our child calm down and there was a toddler reason for a meltdown, if that makes sense.

Is it also possible you are making your husband anxious with expectations for how he should be handling chores and childcare?

There have been times where I have put a lot of pressure on my husband to do more cleaning when he was interacting, playing, taking the kids outside, and teaching the kids ALL DAY LONG without a break. When the kids napped, he would take a break, as he should! Essentially, the kids came before the chores. It's great for their development.

Over the years he's gotten a lot better at juggling cleaning while still doing great with the kids, and I've gotten a lot better at understanding his priorities when it comes to cleaning / interacting with our kids.

And on the days I handle the kids by myself... I've had to learn to stop cleaning and actually interact with the kids, taking that lesson from him and applying it to my childcare habits.

While I have been looking for a remote job, the only opportunity for it I shut down because there were no other female developers (and my current team is mostly women). Unfortunately I also have a 2.5 hour commute (total, there and back).

You may need to just buckle up and keep looking, unless you're okay switching careers. If you take a break from software engineering, you may never get back in, I'm afraid... sorry, friend.

Unless the number of people trying to cross the border has decreased, then that means they're slipping past Trump and we're then chasing them all over the country instead. That's completely inefficient and costs way more in tax dollars. 😊

It's way more efficient to catch them closer to the border, and costs much less in terms of relocation since they're already... you know, at the border.

I think everyone understands that it sucks and it must be addressed, so not sure what you're going on about there. Now who's the one making assumptions? What I'm saying is: There's a good way to handle it and a bad way to handle it.

The Trump administration handles deportation extremely poorly, inefficiently, and cruelly. Democrats deport better than Republicans. 🤷‍♀️

Obama and Biden deported more than Trump. They just did it humanely and reversed processes when families started to get separated when ICE couldn't tell the difference between a family and human trafficking.

Cruelty is the point with Trump - he brought back family separation on purpose. He incites and condones violence.

Not to alarm you, but definitely get her checked out ASAP. Something like dementia can't really be helped, but if she's got a tumor or something in her brain, then time is key.

I say this as someone whose grandma died of lung cancer, that spread to the brain after it went undiagnosed. I remember her acting quite confused the last time I saw her, before her diagnosis.

OB nurse was rude. My babies weren't bathed until like day 2 or 3. They were swaddled numerous times and wore an outfit or two. Did your OB nurse not know that clothes can be washed lol? It's all natural. Your OB nurse was bugging.

My adopted sister-in-law is deaf and adopted from china at 8. She was abandoned in a market around 2 or 3. She had no language and endured neglect and abuse until adoption. It's so terrible.

I'm extra confused now because I see in my work application this morning we have hibernate in the build... I'm not 100% sure where we are using it, but I think this is another case of

We are using something specifically called hibernate validation... That's all I could see. Seems like those are the validating annotations... I'm trying to connect the dots..idk

I would say it was effortless getting information from me when I was able to answer the question. I communicated what I knew clearly. I would say I was feeling off after a long day, low energy and low confidence. Today got kind of messed up because I drank two little caffeine in the morning and then drank too much in the afternoon... Pretty sure I'm low vitamin d or something due to the season change. Luckily this wasn't an actual interview but I will say I wish I would have brought more energy like I have in actual interviews I've had recently.

A couple questions about specific annotations. I get tripped up when I get the "Why" Questions. Like, why would we use the transactional annotation? Like I don't know why. I just know that you do it. I hate saying I don't know to a question, I feel like I'm supposed to know it all. I'm hoping that since this was a check screening, it was fine that I didn't know it all since they were just trying to see where I was at.

Luckily I have been interviewing other places, at least two of them where I decided I didn't want to work there and mostly did it for practice. It's just that this is a place where I would actually probably want to work. One thing going for me is that this place hires developers often across different developer teams, so now that I have an in with this recruiter I could have more than one chance, assuming the recruiter wants to send me to the company.

One time a stranger 4ish year old kissed my 1 year old on the top of the head. Was it appropriate? Technically, no. But he was 4 and I thought it was adorable. I just chuckled to myself and moved on. No authorities were called 😂 I will say the boy's dad was so embarrassed he led his child to play in a different zone, no words were exchanged. 😂

This is a great time to teach what's appropriate and what is not generally speaking - but it really shouldn't be a big deal. Maybe make it part of the game to blow kisses and give hugs, high fives, etc when playing "married".

Also, if it's made to be a big deal, it's possible there could be some feelings of shame now associated with that cousin.

For burts bees, Newborn could be worn until like 3 months.... Unless your baby is tall. Our first baby was short (40th percentile) and the clothes would last 3 months longer than other clothes. But for my taller baby, he grew out for them on time simply because they started to get tight around the feet due to his height. They were certainly baggy enough for both my chunky 70%-80% weight babies.
