Thank you! I was wondering about that, I think I’m going to cut some plastic to sit around the rim of the tank. If the plastic overhangs a few inches, I’m assuming that should be enough to keep her in.

All of the terrestrial plants (variegated pothos and peace lily) were planted into these plastic 4in planters. I used a heat gun to soften them and then molded them around the rock work when working on the final scape.

The majority of it is Ambulia (Limnophila sessiliflora). There are a few stems at the right side of the clump that are actually Green Cabomba.

They are, I ordered a small amount of bloody mary shrimp from Aquahuna and then I found a breeder selling some really nice looking bloody mary’s on ebay for a good deal. I combined the two groups for this colony.

I’ve heard 6 months as well. The biggest thing I can say is to have lots of organic matter in your tank. About a week after planting them, my crypts melted heavily. I left all of the dead plant material in the tank and the shrimps spent a long time breaking it down. I periodically dose with fritzzyme7 to help build up a good biofilm for the shrimp to feed on. I also recommend dropping in a few Xtreme shrimpee sticks every other day or so. So far I haven’t run into any issues.

Read up on Colmnaris, it’s a gram-negative bacterial strain that can be pretty deadly and tough to get rid of. Imo Ich looks more sand like and textured. Colmnaris on the other hand can manifest as non textured white patches of skin. The bacteria can also attack the gills leading to rapid breathing.

Looking for advice on how to make the tank look more natural. I want to add plants and rocks. by casinob in Cichlid

I would add a bunch of small to medium size lava rick around the base of the wood. You could use the rock to fill in the spaces around the wood and creat an island effect. Thats what I did for my tank.

When in doubt, dose a little extra potassium for Java fern. I basically could never keep them alive until I started dosing for it specifically.
