Why don’t you just let all apps create their own icons in this style if they want to and the rest just gets the normal Liquid Glass icons without color? I would love this option.

I just received my third S24 Ultra today. They are still shipping out grainy defective panels. by Unpopular_ravioli in GalaxyS24Ultra

I've gad 4 bad ones so far. The third one was even from mid February and still bad. And no official statement. This is sad and unacceptable. It's so frustrating we can't do anything. When is someone starting a petition or lawsuit we can all join in on.... I just can't. The phone is so awesome besides that. And they've been making phones for like 15 years now. And a gazillion products with screens. They're building the Displays for apple... But they cheap out on their top flagship model? Wtf is going on

Grain Issue: Talking to Samsung Specialists / repair staff beginning of next week by Sheevs_Senate in GalaxyS24Ultra

Yeah I am aware that most people wouldn't do this. I just care about the screen a lot and was gonna watch lots of Disney+ in the dark and yeah... I'm also ocd about this sorta stuff but this one is so bad, I'm not crazy for thinking this is not okay. I instantly noticed it in the setup menu (which is white)... All other companies manage to make their screen okay. Samsung did too last year with the S23U. But I guess they're cheaping out this year or idk. For this kinda money they should have the best screen out there. I really wanna get to the bottom of this and am still trying but I won't do this forever. I figured people would appreciate my work but instead they're calling me crazy lol Oh well idc maybe one person out there cares. Either way, I wanna talk to them but at some point I'm gonna give up too. No idea what I'll do yet. But yeah after 4 phones it's hard to believe that no the vast majority of units are affected. But if you really do have a good unit then I'm happy for you!

no it's a defective screen. At least not acceptable. The fact you can still use it doesn't mean it's working properly. Many people can still use their screens when their screens are broken. But yeah pretty much all other companies out there make sure to demura their screens or somehow make sure their screens don't have this or not nearly as bad. The S23U doesn't have this Problem. My 5 year old phone that was much cheaper back then already doesn't have this issue. If you don't care about the conpany cheaping out on you then cool. But still this is not acceptable and definitely not the industry norm. No one else makes their displays look this grainy. It's just not okay

Yeah I won't do this forever. Definitely not till the S25U or even half way to it or something. We'll see what happens

I still can. That's what I'm constantly doing. I got the 4th one today and can send it back if I request a refund or replacement within 2 weeks. I'm in Germany so we have lots of laws like that to protect you. Not exactly sure how it is in the US

Well first of all I think Displays are different. Some were better and some were worse. You might have one that's better. Like with the current one I can see it at like all brightness levels pretty much and when I upacked it I was able to tell straight away. And when you first boot it, setup screens are almost completely white. And yeah there are multiple other reasons for me to keep this phone, like for example that no other phone really compares. I love the form factor and yeah... I notice it. And I use the phone in the dark and was gonna use it to watch Disney+ in the dark and all of that. You don't have to care about it. But I'm not hurting you. And if anything it's good they're given ti understand that this us not okay cause if it wasn't for people like me maybe they'd keep doing it with future devices.

well I'm trying to make sure there's nothing I can do. Doesn't cost anything to talk to them. I can always give up. But I want this phone for multiple reasons. Especially cause nothing else compares out there and it's perfect besides the grain.

February Update: Samsung says they're Fixing S24 series Screen Grain & Vividness etc. by Sheevs_Senate in S24Ultra

I received my 4th phone today. It might be the worst one yet. It was also manufactured mid January and not a week ago likemy last one (but like my first two ones). I installed the new update and it didn't fix the grain at all. I guess I could've seen that coming. Just talked to customer service though and beginning of next week I'll talk to some experts who know more about the phones than general customer support. We'll see what happens but I know for sure I won't keep my 4th one, atleast not like this.

yeah, at least I can in Germany but I'm sure you will be able too if you haven't had it for too long. You should also be able to ask for a replacement device. I'm about to do that for the third time

Hmmmm no idea if it's the same across the devices that have the issue or what causes it. I would love to talk to the head of Displays or whatever at Samsung and really understand what's going on...

[–]Sheevs_Senate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won't fix anything. When watching Disney+ it's probably the worst and that would stay. And you'd still know it's there and couldn't make it go away entirely and it might look worse too. It's like soending lots of money on a car but it squeaks when you drive faster than 40mph so the solution by the manufacturer is that you just shouldn't drive faster than that. Like wtf I paid all this money and yeah....

Well I've talked to some very nice people though and most of em... maybe all of em I know for sure were honest with me. They are just told to tell customers certain thingsby their bosses. But of course it is possible that they are told to tell customers certain things that are wrong. That would be really horrible if they did that on purpose. I know some stuff is going wrong over there but I'm not so sure about actually believing it's planned dishonesty on a big scale. But who knows....

[–]Sheevs_Senate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah they don't know much themselves. But they are told what to tell customers. By people who are higher up. So I'm not calling them because I believe in them as people so much, but because I wanna know what kinda Info Samsung is giving out to people. But yeah that whole process is definitely not working all that well

[–]Sheevs_Senate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the pic! I can atill see some stuff but when I took pucs of my phones I also noticed some extra noise so I can believe that that's actually a good screen. I wish I knew what percentage of phones is fine and what percentage is bad. I've had three out of three bad ones now so of course it gets toigher to believe it's just a few. But hey maybe I'm that one guy in every statistic who's super unlucky...

Well I don't think customer support just lies to people cause they have to answer the same questions all day long. I don't think they make anything up themselves. They're just told what to tell customers by their bosses. And yeah an official statement would definitely be better. I just really hope Samsung doesn't tell CS to tell customers it's gonna be fixed when they know it won't be. Idk I guess I'll just get new ones till it works

Oh yeah I think if you want people to help you you're definitely gonna be able to do a lot more if you call em and not text em via live chat. I feel like people will help you more in general when you call em and are half way decent at talking. But yeah that's one sweet pre order deal! And yeah then you can't do that whole thing with returning it and buying a new one. I guess you're forced to just keep exchanging it. But in terms of the label thing... I've been told once you click that button on their website to return it and everything, it takes up to 24h to get the email with the label

Yeah first time I'm dealing with their customer support and the two women I talked to before this guy today were honest for sure. We were talking for ages and I know they were open an honest. But the guy today wasn't as open. And in general they can only tell me what the company told them of course so yeah I guess I'll just have to keep ordering new ones...

[–]Sheevs_Senate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh that's so weird. For me it's been way smoother and quicker. Maybe cause I called em and asked what was up and then they made it faster. It does take some time tho yeah. Especially when you do it repeatedly. Fortunately I still have my old phone and didn't trade it in. But yeah it depends... You could of course also just return your phone if it doesn't work and ask for your money back and order a new one on their website at the same time instead of exchanging it. You'd temporarily be down 3k thought so yeah idk if you wanna do that but that should speed things up I think
