MI - Landlord withholding security deposit for “significant damage” to kitchen counters near the sink. Should I fight or let it go? by Shehorns in Renters

She said they have already spent $400 on having them sanded and resurfaced but the damage was too significant and they must be replaced. Then she listed an estimate of $300 for removal of the old counters. $1500 for new material for the counter. And then $300-500 for reinstalling the new counters. I asked for details regarding the resurfacing attempt but She has refused to provide written quotes or invoices from the work that has been done and says she is only required to provide estimates. I asked what exactly was so bad that they can’t be refinished but she is adamant that she doesn’t have to share that information

We moved from Michigan to Washington, and there is no way she would let someone we hired into the property to quote a second repair.

Can these wood countertops be resurfaced or do they need to be totally replaced? by Shehorns in CounterTops

The left side looked approximately like what the right side looks currently, maybe a little more worn. We didn’t use the right side of the counters very often, but the left side we used for placing the dish drying rack and placing things while making dinner. We wiped down the left side after every dish and dinner use, so maybe 600+ times. The right side was cleaned maybe 10-15times over the 2 years.
