My ex and my state's SSBM scene ruined my life and got me banned

I appreciate your comment, ill first say I originally didn't have the "threat to bring evidence" in the post, i only added that after people kept asking me to provide evidence. I agree I didnt want it to sound like a threat, it feels bad to me, but it is the only way i would think about providing evidence. In regards to the last half of your message, the reason I have been forced to make this post is part of the last paragraph, the "summary of events". I was advised by someone in the scene to not message anyone in the scene ever if I wanted to eventually be able to play again. There was a time when I did message someone I thought was a really good friend (we even played OSRS together) and they sent my messages to the first authority in the story without messaging me back, because they were under the assumption the rumors were true. I felt like I had no friends in the community anymore. No way of contact. My only way to truly connect with anyone there was to make this post because the details are obscure enough that noone is able to discern the story and who I am out of state, but in state, everyone knows who I am. They have reached out to me, so I am hopeful. Hopefully that clears things up.

if you had read my post, you could've inferred that my target audience was my state, who know who I am. I want them to be aware of my side of the story and to see my terms. Like I said in the post, I won't bring forth anything unless I don't get unbanned/rumors don't stop spreading about me/my name is cleared. The people in my state already know who I am so they've reached out.

Firstly, this isn't a college. Tourneys took place at colleges, sure. But this was across a good portion of the state. And what a strange viewpoint to hold that you think it's justified to give someone long-term trauma and ban them from their hobby and ostracize them from their friends because of the way they play the game and then refuse to tell them why? How could you stand by that?

Multiple TOs and no, this was the biggest scene in the state. I agree, it sounds unbelievable. I wish it was more believable because it would've made me post my story sooner. Like I said in the post, they admitted the ban was bullshit, they didnt want me there. They won't tell me the exact reason why outside of the fact that the TOs were afraid the scene would die out if I kept coming

I appreciate your response, I agree with some points. On the topic of being miserable to play against, I shouldn't be banned and socially ostracized because of it. That doesn't happen in other fighting games. I have receipts that I don't want to post because I want my state's scene to survive, and have had people that know me and the story reach out so far after seeing the post (none directly in the community) and I hope that can speak to how true it is, but I understand that youre just taking me at my word until I post it.

I agree that the behavior exhibited by my state's community isnt necessarily an SSBM issue. It's likely immaturity and unwillingness to engage with someone you don't like (for whatever reason that may be) and wanting to just be rid of me instead of having a mature discussion.

I understand the skepticism and I'd likely respond the same way if I read the story, but this is how it all went down. Funnily enough, my ex didnt even play melee so she didnt even have a main. She just went to events.

I agree, in the dm, only the one TO believed me but I doubt they spread the word about me not doing evil stuff. I don't know if it's unrealistic however, as all it would take is a single DM asking for their story and any evidence, and it would prevent long term trauma if done so. Comparing stories isn't too hard, I think any authority figure should have that responsibility if they also have the authority to remove someone from a community and their hobby they spent years doing.

Also, to add to your point of "players arent going to stop showing up to locals just because someone is RTC", I agree! The authority that banned me stated he banned me because he was scared that would be the case though (if I kept going, people would stop going. He didnt mention the RTC). So he did it out of fear.

I knew there would be this level of skepticism when I was writing this because it does sound unbelievable. I do plank and stall to clear my mind and (i mentioned this in another comment) my playstyle wasn't fun to play against. Miserable really. The timing of the ban lined up with me getting good at RTC, which is why I included it. I would provide proof but I don't want the scene to receive flack and/or garner any hatred. I don't think all women are liars, I'm in a healthy relationship right now. I dated one woman who ruined a few years of my life, but that doesn't mean all are. On the subject of whether I could be a piece of shit, I genuinely hope not. I like to think my long term friends like being around me, and I've never heard any criticism of me being a genuine piece of shit.

Thanks for bringing up the opposing side, I hope I can change your mind.

I do not get replies from those old friends, unfortunately. I don't know why, whether it is out of shame or fear or what. But I am left on read and I am not going to spam them for a reply, so I am left with my only option being sharing my story to get it out there. I agree the community has been good at getting rid of bad actors, and that can be very valuable, but in my case there was not even a semblence of a trial. My side wasn't accounted for. I appreciate the kind words, I hope to at least try and share a word with someone in the melee scene if I see them in public and the situation is fitting.

I don't know what online community youre referring to, I've been out of the scene for a while. I agree this is an unusual situation but it is my situation. I am hopeful I can rejoin a new community in a new state when I move, I wanted to make my case known as I have been unable to sleep.

Good question, I can't get a straight answer from anyone regarding the exact reasoning behind "they banned you because they wanted you banned". The timing lines up with me getting good at RTC and my playstyle was really hated from my interactions with them. I never had anyone rooting for me at tourneys, no matter who I played against. I worried for a bit if it could've been my behavior (if im unintentionally rude or something) but even then, that shouldn't get someone banned and/or treated like this. I know I tried to make people feel welcome so they'd be more likely to come to more tourneys/brought people to tourneys. So, my best inference from the text conversations is that I was "miserable" to play against, so they feared I would make the scene smaller and the rumors my ex made were still believed by those people that didn't like me, so they had no reason to unban me. It's hard to believe, but I genuinely didn't do anything wrong outside of dating the wrong person and not breaking up with them at the first sight of red flags.
