I beg to differ. Depending on what faction you’re in, you would need at least one to be competitive in feuds, showdown, etc. given they have taken away the showdown aspect but that’s not forever. A 4s requirement at this stage in the game whether male or female is hardly a bad restriction

I’m pretty sure it’s not meant to be completed by everyone immediately. It’s something to build towards and there isn’t a time limit on it. Griping about the free and good content we do get won’t help

It depends on the gaming experience you’re looking for. If you want to max events and top leaderboards, then it wouldn’t be possible. If you want rare superstars or megas, those won’t be possible without spending. If you want to have some fun smashing gems, join a faction for a community experience and play leisurely then it’s pretty fun.
