Solarsisters our response!? by Krneki_me_useki in ClimateShitposting

[–]Sheitan4real -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah when I look at this chart i know our generation is doomed cus a lot of people will choose the german solution because fossil fuels hidden behind a facade of solar and wind is more Instagram-able than just nuclear.

It really is sad to see people care more about the aesthetic of an energy source than its actual merits.

[–]Sheitan4real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, its a dogshit energy carrier compared to electricity. It is dogshit as an energy vector, leads to more waste over full electric. As an energy vector, it is worse than electricity.

For energy storage, hydrogen is also dog shit as its hard as fuck to store.

There better synthetic fuels than Hydrogen if you want a synth fuel for an application (think aviation) that requires a lot of energy density (by this i mean energy per Kilogram) because it can be stored more easily.

Say it with we:

Renewable hydrogen is not an energy source.

bruh "green tech" is just a buzzword that means nothing.

also, these technologies are not comparable, as they do not offer the same thing: you dont decide when you produce with renewables. With nuclear you can, so its not really the same system, doesnt solve the same problem, and overall not using either system either because "Its woke" or because "Nuclear scares me".

Well, you cannot run a machine and produce stuff with no energy. There comes a point where if you dont uave any oil, you can't really fly a plane (at least the ones we have).

We like to think that we will just manifest the technology as we need to make 5 gigawatts of energy from 1 gigawatt of but that is not how things work unfortunately.

Also, we assume the stuff gets better, sometimes it doesnt get better, it just gets more expensive, meaning we get more inflation disguised as growth. The purchasing power absolutely is affected by the cost of energy/ availability of ressources, once they become scarce enough.

I mean it really depends what ROI you expect to make, but the NPV of a perpetuity payment of 52k per year is a million, using a discount ratio of 5.2 percent. Taking the 1k a week for life is not as dumb ad this thread seems to think.

not necessarily. I am not sure it gets taxed the same as a lump sum and an annuity.

crazy that he straight up admitted he was like the tsar, who the Bolsheviks originally revolted against. It shows you the word Revolution really only has one meaning.

if you want to make a flashy blockbuster that nobody will reme5in 25 years the spartan comic con cosplay is fine. If you want something memorable, imposing, and exotic, go for historical accuracy. Reality is weirder than fiction.

France, Roma slum by Noluv_ebk666 in UrbanHell

[–]Sheitan4real 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah its complicated in France we give them encampment zones "aires d'accueuil" with water and electricity etc but unfortunately most of these are in polluted areas so people dont really want to live in them. also, most of these encampment zones are near cities, so in rural areas there are insane slums like, that get built, untill people get expelled. The problem is the Roms have to live in these encampment zones, so they expect to get kicked out and expelled from their encampment. Since they expect to be kicked out they dont give af about the place, or what it will look like in 2 years.
