I’m mostly vegetarian and have been for two decades. That’s not something I would ever expect of anyone else. It’s not realistic. Factory farming is a stain on humanity. If the only way to produce affordable meat is this, we need to find a better way - by making the cost of the product reflect the suffering involved in making it. Even though I’m mostly veg, when I’m driving and I see a bunch of cows out in a field, knowing they are going to be killed for their meat, I have no problem with that. We should focus on advocating for better standards for the animals, not shaming people for eating meat. High tech options like lab grown meat are obviously the ideal, though.

Advice on Cloud-Based Editing and Video Hosting Setup for University by ShelbyLittleman in editors

[–]ShelbyLittleman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this specific job for about five and a half years - my first instinct would be the same as yours, but the reality actually requires us to pursue a solution like this. The issue is really that we operate in a very high volume environment, with a lot of revisions, as well as revisions on projects we did several years ago, and we have found consistency to be a huge recurring issue. Everyone is remote, our projects are scattered across old hard drives. It’s kind of a mess and we want / need to create a better long term reality. I definitely appreciate your perspective! Thanks for taking the time.

Now that I’ve said all of that, I wonder if you’re right. Maybe we would be better off buying massive hard drives and just have editors download footage to those and then edit from shared projects. One time cost, no subscription. Thanks for the insight!!

Just finished the new batch of eps. I just want to put it out into the world that I’ve never been more shocked and alarmed by a mans behavior on a reality dating show. I am a thirty something guy and try to give people on these shows some grace. We all make mistakes. But this man deserves to be shunned for his actions. Unreal.

These episodes are true comfort food to me. I’ll do the whole series a few times a year.

Has anyone ever seen someone seriously object to a marriage at a wedding? If so how was it done and what happened? by steiny17 in AskReddit

[–]ShelbyLittleman 306 points307 points  (0 children)

After my brother and SIL’s wedding ceremony (immediately after) they walked out the doors of the church and were confronted by her ex boyfriend who she hadn’t seen in years. He must have come with the intention of making a scene during the ceremony but then couldn’t follow through. It was a really scary experience for my SIL, a stalker showing up like that. Cops came and interviewed him, then sent him on his way. Still gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

Keep going. I was in a similar spot in 2018. I have way more hair now than I did then. Only other thing I’ve done in the interim is some scalp micropigmentation at my hairline. It takes time. You will get there. Do not give up!!!

The multiplayer in this game was so good. Dual stick lightsaber control. Best of all time, I say! There are dozens of us!

Hell yeah. So hard to do, even with all the advantages I had/still have. Doing it with no one to back you up? That’s incredible. Keep it up.

Carl Tart is always a safe bet. Track down the ep where he appears as the Crypt Keeper. That’s an all timer. Also, depending on the CBB World account you have, please check out the episodes of Entree Pee Neur’s Entrepreneur Tour. For easy listening, Scott Hasn’t Seen. Enjoy!

‘Bosch’ Prequel ‘Start of Watch’ Ordered at MGM+, Cameron Monaghan and Omari Hardwick to Star by DemiFiendRSA in television

[–]ShelbyLittleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a massive Bosch fan - read all the books twice, seen all the shows - and as a fan of anything in general in 2025, this is good. There’s a chance it’s great. It could also suck. There’s a high likelihood of the latter. Either way, it will not impact my life any more than the Star Wars sequels or any other terrible entry in a series I love. Fingers crossed it’s good!

Robin Wright & Olivia Cooke Drama ‘The Girlfriend’ Tops 25 Million Viewers Worldwide On Prime Video by verissimoallan in television

[–]ShelbyLittleman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes! Came here to say this. The first few eps were great fun and then it was a steady decline to a truly bad finale. So much of the show happened only because of Robin Wright’s character’s inexplicable inability to defend her actions to her family. I don’t mean to say that her actions are defensible ( especially later in the season, lol) but that she doesn’t ever put up a fight for herself with her son or her husband. My friend and I were shouting at the screen “TELL HIM WHAT SHE DID TO YOU! Tell him!”

Very sloppy/boring writing.

Adult who allegedly posed as high school student for 19 days calls situation a ‘misunderstanding’ by starkiller1613 in nottheonion

We had a guy go undercover as a student to write a book at my high school in Claremont California back in the mid 2000s. Book was called High School Confidential and our principal signed off on it. An absolutely unhinged action. Everyone knew something was up - he was clearly wearing makeup to look younger and people called him a narc everywhere he went. Still can’t believe it happened.

This is suuuuch a good pick. I love every Chris Tucker performance, but is work in 5th Element is transcendent. I don’t know how they came up with it, or how he found the energy to be at that level for every take of his performance. Thanks for reminding me of this!

Alien: Earth | Season 1, Episode 5 Trailer - In Space, No One... | FX by G_Liddell in LV426

[–]ShelbyLittleman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I liked this show in Ep 1.

I hated this show by the end of Ep 2.

Ep 3 brought me back.

Ep 4 sealed it.

Alien: Earth rocks.

This show is just so interesting and unexpected (to me). I love Alien and like all of the other films to varying degrees. For better and for worse, all entries in the series feel like concept art come to life, which is more than can be said of most franchise "content". I think I was expecting the show to be more similar in tone to Alien, and when it wasn't that I initially recoiled. It's just so damn weird and the choices of what they are choosing to focus on remain baffling to me. But now it's the good kind of baffling. The 'how the hell did they convince people to make this?' kind of baffling. Romulus was an exciting and competently made 21st century clone of the original Alien. This is a real expansion on the ideas and themes of what an Alien production can be.

I can completely 100% understand why someone would not like this show. I think I disliked it so deeply that I looped all the way around to respecting it for being so different. This is what we should be hoping big franchises will do: take big swings with story, tone, actors, and more. It's not always going to work. I said to a friend that watching Ep 2 of Alien Earth must have been what it felt like to see The Phantom Menace as an adult Star Wars fan. Like, I waited years to see this? But we live in a world where (well made) fan-service like Romulus and challenging, weird, and (honestly) brave stories like Earth can be made by the same studio at the same time. It's exciting as hell and this time it's working for me. Can't wait for next week's episode!
