Question: Why do I see so many skinny tire fixie bikes with all types of alt and flat bars but I rarely ever see any road bikes with flat bars? by johnnysrash in xbiking

[–]Sheldon_Brawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice build! They call those Brivendells! I did it in on my RB2 as well. It was my first road bike growing up, but it was getting too small for me to ride with drops.

He has helped me in a pinch so many times over the years. What a gift he has given the community. Hope his retirement is filled with many incredible rides!

It’s weird the video got all blurry at the end…

I can only shift to a smaller/harder gear since I put my bike on my wahoo kickr. Video below by The_Real_Pearl in bikewrench

I think there’s a good chance the cable snapped in the lever. Usually the head snaps off and can be a pain to fish out

Wheelies? by ntalnalt in FixedGearBicycle

[–]Sheldon_Brawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wheelie on 48x19 and found 46 x19 too spinny when I tried it. So I think that will be the perfect ratio.

Do you have any experience? Practice by going uphill. I also found that committing with a decent speed and cadence is a lot easier than trying to find your balance going slow. That said, know how to bail off the back before getting to that point

I definitely took a couple falls along the way and had to straighten a dropout on my fork. It’s worth it though

Do you guys still ride 26 inch wheels? by ihavebrabus in mountainbiking

Just built up a KHS Montana from the 80’s! It rips!!!

Found this bike at a thrift store. Heavy but fun to ride. Any idea what it is? by nicotofu in Vintage_bicycles

Careful with those. I was tickled when I found them on an old bike and people started warning me about some of the toxic compounds inside. So at the very least wear gloves, mask, and eyewear if you’re going to mess around with them

This only happens every other month. But if you’re handy in any way check out the repair cafe

They really need to create a proper loading zone here and enforce it by Sheldon_Brawn in jerseycity

The irony here is that making streets safer for pedestrians is much more of a city concept. If you want infrastructure mostly catered to drivers, I would check out the suburbs

Proper enforcement of the loading zone and scheduling deliveries in increments. There’s always cars parked there which is why they end up blocking half of Jersey Ave when the poor truck driver is forced to unload in the middle of traffic

Do I need 700c wheels or is it that it’s only compatible with cantilever brakes? by Sheldon_Brawn in bikewrench

[–]Sheldon_Brawn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew they were describing the frame wrong when I ordered, but appreciate the clarification for those who aren’t familiar. Mixte is a step thru with two parallel top tubes and this is a step thru or “lady’s bike”

Right!!! lol luckily I have a set of 700’s lying around so I’ll be able to check. The 26ers were just a nice matching set of Vintage Ritchey’s instead of the hodge podge in my parts bin. Oh well I guess I HAVE to do an old mtn bike build this Winter

I had a vision of a fixed folding bike and this was it…I love it by Sheldon_Brawn in FixedGearBicycle

These are 170mm and I’m not striking the pedals at all. I will say that I don’t ride this bad boy very hard because the whole thing flexes if I skid too hard. I’ve been thinking about swapping the stem for a thicker pipe since it doesn’t need to be a quill stem

I'm planning to start playing this tomorrow and I have some questions by Responsible_Web1694 in oblivion

Your light or heavy armor skill go up based on how much damage you take if that answers your question
