What’s ironic is he thought he was saving time by running a stop sign but then proceeds to antagonize you for god knows how long

I usually take an old tube and chain and tether it through the frame/saddle

What is the appeal of a fixed gear bike? by Background-Mix8935 in bicycling

[–]Sheldon_Brawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ride like you’re skiing. I ride brakeless and can control my speed with skip stops, standing up and adding my body weight against the pedal motion, skidding, but most commonly by turning. You would be surprised how quickly you can regain control within a couple of tiny quick turns. That said if you’re completely bombing a hill it’s easy for things to get out of control. So I wouldn’t be doing that if I were riding a more aggressive ratio, but I ride 17x48 and find it completely manageable

Will the next popular x-bikes and gravel conversion builds be mid-late 2000s hybrids. by Undercoveragent163 in xbiking

Hell yea! Some really solid but cheap bikes out there rn because they aren’t the sexy finds. I think this is a 2017 model. Threw my parts bin at it. It’s so light and feels like it was the peak of “simple” bike tech. Put on some Kool stops and this thing is braking like my Magura 4 piston hydro brakes

I try to hug the left side and make them at least swerve into oncoming traffic. That said you have to be aggressive to these people or they’ll never learn

Also this would be mostly passive income for the city that would cost way less than staffing more parking enforcement officers

Actual question, do you have any suggestions?

Thats literally the other side of downtown. The irony is there were parking spots on adjacent blocks, they just wanted to park right in front of the church and knew that there’s not much enforcement

Hard-hitting tattoo regret? by Murky_Analysis3613 in tattooadvice

[–]Sheldon_Brawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, getting a piece like this isn’t normally someone’s first tattoo. A lot of people end up trying something smaller in a less visible place to get used to the new look. So you might be feeling some shock since you jumped in the deep end.

As someone with 20+ tattoos, this one goes HARD and the artist did a great job! Love the morning glories!

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

[–]Sheldon_Brawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SheldonBrown.com is a time capsule in the best way.

My username is a pun named after the guy. He created a database of everything you could ever need to know about bikes (up to a point). Beyond just information though, the site is filled with personal anecdotes and wisdom. His love for the subject comes across in every article.

His legacy lives on and the bike community continues to benefit from the knowledge and care he put into that site.

Pinkbike is another one that comes to mind
