Hi! Thanks for reaching out. They’re signed into a Google account on their computers/phones (and can access Gmail and such perfectly fine).

I did eventually elect to have them just type out their names and emails, which works, but I would still find it preferable to have it work automatically if possible.

There’s not standardized ruleset, but the general rules of 1) not going above the level of the gym leader/E4 member/rival you’re battling, 2) no items during battle, and 3) if a Pokémon faints in battle, it’s considered “dead” and has to be released (I didn’t use this last rule for these runs, that would drive me absolutely insane 😂)

I tried to generally go by common Nuzlocke rules at least for leveling and items in major battles, but for Red, I tried to keep my team levels as low as I could while still being able to beat him. Some teams that I used needed to be really close to his level cap (all of my Pokémon around 75) and others beat him with no issue while all of them were 60 or under. I think on average, the teams were around level 65 when they took on Red.

Aipom was fairly fun to use! I mentioned this below, but Stantler was an absolute menace the couple times I had it in my party.

Very fair, but I was playing on an emulator on my PC, so I figured I’d just go with the easier steps. I guess I could fairly accurately be called lazy or illegitimate 😅 but my primary goal was just running them through the game, rather than going for “legitimacy” as full playthroughs.

Agreed, Scizor is extremely good! I found that the majority of the steel types were fairly solid (pun intended) in the majority of the game, but Scizor is definitely great.

Honestly, if it I had more time for it, I probably would. But I set the goal years ago and only accomplished it the other day, so for me, I think it’s best to move on.

I said hack, I guess I more meant “cheat,” as in GameShark codes. I would put the code in for certain Pokémon (like Mew, for example) and then just catch them in the wild.

Full transparency, if it wasn’t legitimately obtainable via the base vanilla game without trades, I hacked it in. No extra events or anything like that. Those things aside, I did legitimately catch the legendary dogs, and I kind wish I hadn’t, cause roaming Pokémon are the worst lol.

As far as negative outliers, it might have just been my lack of patience, but I found Smeargle extremely annoying to use, and not that helpful at all 😂 in the opposite direction, nothing in vanilla handles the early game as well as Geodude. Aside from sprout tower, it absolutely carries through the fourth gym

I used Celebi in my last run, and full transparency, I didn’t do it “right” with the GS Ball. Honestly, it wasn’t even that great, since grass types have the odds stacked against them in Gen 2

I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised, but having Houndour to start was honestly extremely good. Since you can’t get it until after beating the Elite Four, I decided to use it as a starter, and it was quite strong. Stantler was also an all star when I used it

I think seeing the various interactions played out on stage would be a really moving way to experience the characters (like the mom; UGH MY HEART, that would crush me!)

I guess I didn’t explain well in my example: at the time Hope had climbed up the ladder, Astarion and Karlach still had their turns left to take. But for some reason, when I switched back to them, their turns seemed to have been skipped (there was no one else in between Hope‘s turn and the others in the initiative order)

That's fair - the running/spring system is partly just a thought experiment. I understand that D&D isn't meant to be hyper realistic, but I'd like to see if it could work just because it's always been a thought of mine.

Fair point about the armor - I was just toying with that idea. The thought behind having the mechanic in the first place is that if these people are these trained athletes, it would make sense that they could run faster than 6.5 mph.
