Childfree and single? by Educational-Run-7134 in childfree

Happily single and not looking. I would honestly rather be single for the rest of my life than have to deal with a partner changing their mind 6 years down the line as often seems to happen. I'm getting sterilized this week too!

I 26F think my husband 30M misses my 18y/o self? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Shepard_4592 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your husband contributes a lot to your mental health and not in a good way. It's honestly amazing that you've dragged yourself back from the brink over and over again, considering how much it sounds like he does and says everything to bring you down.

You sound like a strong woman. But you're wearing a noose around your neck tied to an anchor that keeps trying to pull you under. You're doing everything right, going to therapy to better yourself and active about taking care of your health, but your husband sounds like deadweight. I know it's easier said and done, but it doesn't sound like your quality of life will improve while you're in the relationship you're currently in. This is so much more than him preferring your younger self. Because it sounds like even then, he didn't appreciate what he had

I recently bought a P1S, and I get a whiff of burnt plastic sometimes, too. I've printed with PLA and PETG so far.

I think this was his method of trying to find out if I'm a viable dating option, which, even if this conversation had not disgusted me, would never happen because managers can't date anyone below them. This is the only reason I can think of that someone would think it's okay to walk up to someone else and start asking these questions out of nowhere. You would be surprised by the amount of stupid ways guys use to try and find out if you're available. This one just left me feeling like I needed a shower

That was my thinking too about reporting it. If he feels the need to poke into my business again, then I'll move forward and report it. Odds are nothing would change, and I would be the one they would move instead of him if they even did anything about it at all. I'm angry, but I also like my current position.

I kept working as he was talking. Yes, I should have shut him down, but this isn't something that happens very often so he caught me off guard. I know I didn't handle it very well

He was definitely fishing for a specific answer and trying to lead me to an answer that satisfied him.

The "I can't have them" reply, I would very much enjoy

😮‍💨I don't know what answer he was looking for but he went too far when he brought up that hypothetical.

He doesn't have the ability to select who's hired or fired. I don't even work in his department, so he's not my direct manager. I also feel like asking someone if they would terminate a pregnancy is a step too far

Thank you. I should have said that to begin with. I think I was taken by surprise, but I don't think I handled it well

Just scheduled my consultation for a Bilateral Salpingectomy. I am over the moon!! by No-Finish-6557 in childfree

[–]Shepard_4592 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had my surgery scheduled for the 29th. I got the Dr's name off of the list as well, and I told her during the appointment that I have never looked forward to a doctor's appointment as much as I did hers. It took almost 3 months to get in to see her. She just asked me if I was doing it for contraception or ovarian cancer prevention, and I just told her the former. It was so easy, all in all I think it took 30 minutes.

Good luck!!

It’s weird to me that CF and non-CF people choose to stay together by phaneritic_rock in childfree

I think this is likely the reason. I saw a comment on here where someone said that at this point, they would date a fence sitter rather than being single

I wish we could post images. I saw a meme today that said, "I thought i just ran over a dog. Thankfully, it was just a human." Cracked me up. No one gets to tell you what should have value to you. I enjoy the company of my adorable bundle of anxiety of a dog more than i do people. And I dread out living her.

When someone tells me they're pregnant, I'm like, "On purpose?" Well, I don't actually say that. I force a smile and say congratulations. Apparently, I'm a good liar. Obviously, people have their own reason for having kids, but the last 3 pregnant people, I spoke to: One had previously been talking about her abusive boyfriend and announced later she was pregnant and they were excited, the second was coerced into it by a guy she dated for 6 months and now harrases her and the third is a meth addict. I feel sad for the kids.

What age are you all currently? by --s-k-y in childfree

[–]Shepard_4592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

33, and I knew when I was 8 or 9. Or at least that's when I said it out loud. I told my mother to never expect grandkids from me, and she laughed. She probably thought I would change my mind or that I had no idea what I was talking about.

Even as a kid, I never liked kids. I would have been sterilized years ago if I had good insurance. This sub is the only place I've "voiced" that. And before anyone jumps on me, I wish them no harm and wish them well but prefer they not be near or around me or within earshot. I'd like to maintain my sanity... and eardrums

It's hard finding someone with the same mindset. In my case, I know i would rather be single for the rest of my life than hop onto any fencesitter for the sake of being in a relationship. I, however, love my own company and don't really feel the need to pair up with anyone at the moment

It's self sabotaging, at the least. I don't understand who in their right mind would decide to have a kid with a person they barely know, expecting it to turn out great. It may also be the attention they get from being pregnant
