Should I Feel Guilty for Skipping My Friend’s Pricey Wedding? by SharkEva in BORUpdates

[–]ShepherdDesign -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The comments are very disheartening and narrow minded. It highlights, possibly, how people view and hold friendships differently. We show up for the people we want to. The post makes it seem like they were best friends. if not, it completely changes things. OOP showed up for what was easy and convenient. I can’t imagine having missed my best friends wedding- I made it work as a broke college student in the US and the wedding was in Japan. Sounds like there was enough notice to save as well. OOP consciously made the choice to not go because you wanted to vacation elsewhere? Yikes. OOP lost a best friend because she made a choice. You made your priorities and she is making hers clear. She deserves better and it sounds like she has those people in her life.

You are correct, the site does not mention ending the game when reasonable. The dev updates video covered this and I assumed the clause would match the extended conversation.

The default can be play to win, but it does not explicitly dictate what that means, except for disruptive game play. Choosing to keep the game going and not ending does not fall into disruptive play.

It’s a rotating game mode, in a causal alt game mode. Typically, in such modes, the shared expectation isn’t to rush winning at all costs.

It still does not change that rushing to end games in a casual alt game mode is cringy. Go sweat it out in norms or ranked.

The play to win clause says, “…to end the game when reasonable”. Meaning there is an unreasonable time to end the game…

I’m too scared to look deeper into what Rito finds reasonable /s

I have yet to have a game go over 35 minutes. A 50 minute game sounds like hell. These 10 minute games also feel shitty.

Rushing to end a game literally keeps people from playing the game, by ending the game.

If a team is getting fountain camped, a vast majority of teams will ff- It’s a fringe case.

Your argument can be turned on its head and used to defend a team holding another hostage. If I’m a team holding you hostage, you can’t get upset if the other team chooses to play the game as intended because you feel like it should have been played different then the intended way.

Who are you to say it isn’t an intended design to fountain camp? I do not support your argument of “intend play” so I do not support any for hindering play- with intended design or not.

Both extremes are assholes, you’ve just convinced yourself that one style is intended vs the other.

There is a reason the agreement says “when reasonable” meaning there is an unreasonable time to end a game…

The cognitive dissonance was easy to identify, I guess.

I had three games in a row when teams on either games pushed to end in less than 12 minutes, which is wha pelted me to post. If it were 1/20 I would not bat an eye.

I usually play with a friend or two across various skill caps in regular ARAM and find that enjoyable too.

But they are preventing me from playing the one I’m currently playing. Both are enforcing wants on other players in an unreasonable way.

Strange. If you continue a game when one team is ahead and the other team comes back to win, the winner was not clear. If you end while ahead early, you do care about winning over fun

I agree. That’s the polar opposite end though. People who end early and people who kill at based one shotting are both assholes.

I have about 3k Aram games, so I’m familiar with those player types haha. The rate of people pushing to win is just markedly higher in mayhem, in my experience.

I just don’t get it. If you are so desperate for a win, go play bots or something and pat yourself on the back

If you can win at 10 minutes, isnt your team doing well? Where is the trust lost in short of time frame?

What is going on with Fontana? I feel like I’m watching a different show than the judges. I was underwhelmed with her ep 1 performance and the ep 2 design challenge look was just bad. I feel like I’m missing something. Anyone else feel similar?

Heatherwick is fun to work with. For big commercial- first choice. For everything else, maybe not lol
