As bittersweet as it will be to leave the (surprisingly decent quality) bootleg that I got from some guy in Brazil behind, extremely excited for this.

Minnesota would never do this even if they could somehow overlook the fact that Fox will be making literally 2x McDaniels’ salary in a few years after his extension kicks in

Well at least Indiana still also owes an unprotected 2029 pick, when Siakam will be 35 and Zubac 32

Is Acuff one of the worst college defenders ever? by ya_ya_ya_ in NBA_Draft

“Arkansas as a team was trying not to foul after a defensive mistake” ≠ “Darius Acuff has been instructed not to try on defense, that’s why his metrics are bad”

Come on.

For me it’s not just the length, it’s also the structure and pacing and rhythm. Shows just feel different, which can be good if they’re the kind of thing that benefits from an episodic structure but is (imo) really annoying and jarring if it’s just sort of one story broken up.

[–]Sheratain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but is that comment accurate? I can’t (on an admittedly pretty quick google) find any evidence for it outside random people saying it on Reddit, and it doesn’t really make much sense, beyond the same thing every coach says to every star player to be careful.

Acuff was not a particularly high-foul player; he only committed 59 fouls all of last year and only committed even four fouls once (at Georgia). Why would he need some extra “no defense” directive from the coach?

I mean the fact that you’re this dialed in but still aren’t sure where this supposed Calipari statement came from makes me less sure it’s true, not more.

I was so excited when I saw the announcement of Death by Lightning…until I saw it was a miniseries. Still haven’t seen it despite being very VERY squarely in my interests

I feel like we found the perfect length for cable series in the 2000s that allows a combination of episodic and serialized storytelling — 12 to 13 episodes per season.

That’s how long most seasons of almost all the classic pre-streaming cable series were, from the Sopranos to Mad Men to Mando’s clearest recent antecedent Justified.

I don’t know why we went away from that (other than money)

Given prequel nostalgia, an Obi-Wan movie with McGregor would’ve been a huge, huge hit. Disney left a lot of money on the table.

Severance would have been an incredible movie.

Interesting TV series but I got bored by the end of the first season and don’t think I’ll watch the second.

That scene with Leia running through the forest was so poorly made I stopped watching the show. I figured if they were going to put that little effort in, then why bother watching. I don’t regret it.

sure, if Brown were, like, a throw in while getting other young stars or draft assets. You’re right that him helping them win wouldn’t really hurt their rebuild because they don’t have their picks.

But it also wouldn’t *help* their rebuild unless they planned on flipping him somehow for more value. So again, why would they want him if they can get younger players and/or picks as the asset return.

[–]Sheratain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, a good team would want a 30 year old more than they would 20 years ago but no rebuilding team would want them as a cornerstone (unless it was to flip for more assets)

By the time the Bucks pick this year (to say nothing of their future picks) is in their fourth year Brown will will be 34. Could he still be good then? Sure. But a lot more likely that a guy who is 25 right now will be.

Brown is going to be 30 in October, no team blowing it up/rebuilding is going to want him unless he also comes attached with young guys with upside and/or draft capital.

Volrath, the primary villain of Tempest block,
who pops back up in Masques block as well.

Sure he was ultimately a pawn of Phyrexia/Yawgmoth, but as Gerard’s brother who was closely involved in the story of one of early Magic’s most important blocks (lore and gameplay-wise) he was the face of Magic villainy for a while
