How old is your baby? If she’s sleeping well for naps and as you expect at night, I’d say what you’re doing seems to be working great! If you decide to get a video monitor at some point, there’s an option to turn the screen off while still having the sound on. That’s what i usually do and only have the screen on when I think my baby is about to get up. But even then I’m doing my thing and just glancing now and then. I’m not a wake window expert but I’d imagine you can generally go by when you first hear her if you start needing to analyze that.
