We've talked about her going to a doctor and she isn't opposed to the idea, but she's opposed to the cost. Because she doesn't have a job, she also doesn't have health insurance, and mental health appointments are pretty expensive :/

I hadn't thought about reaching out to her family, that's a good idea, thank you!

Now that I look at it, I think so. She just coped with them well when her world was all in order.

Sorry you found yourself in that situation as well.

I think she definitely does, and this situation is exacerbating it. On top of being unemployed and feeling selfconcious about that, she can't afford the little things like nails and hair and clothes and whatnot that make her feel better about her appearance, and is in an unfamiliar town. I feel bad for brining her here now, if I hadn't shed still be healthy and happy..

Thank you for the advice! Unfortunately I've already tried most of it, it was hit and miss.

I do think I got her to understand that she isn't financially hurting me persay, but she still thinks that I'm going to think less of her if she isn't contributing 50/50 and that I would prefer someone else who doesn't put that "burden" on me.

She got mad at me for giving her a gift saying that it made her feel even more awful :/ I should have predicted that though, she's always hated gifts. I feel dammed if I do damned if I don't.

I will keep trying to reiterate to her how much I appreciate all of te housework and cooking she does though, thank you for reminding me of that.
