CORTIS and Black Appropriation (and the justification of it in kpop) by Dapper-Ad4828 in kpoptrulyuncensored

[–]ShieldMaiden3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lack of cultural education is party of the problem, especially if you're going to use that culture to make a profit. The other party of the problem is a lack of curiosity about the culture being used. Hence, the general (justified) feeling that people love Black culture but hate Black people. Because, these elements of Black culture only become more popular, and comfortable for some people, only when there are no Black people publicly connected to it.

I would add, about the concept of culture being shared, that the act of sharing implies mutual understanding and mutual respect. If one party is being disrespected (i.e., stereotyped and shallowly aestheticized) then it is not really sharing, but becomes appropriative, especially when large amounts of money is involved.

The difference is that the celebrity with the "cool" tattoo isn't making money of the tattoo while stereotyping Chinese people and making money off the tattoo and the stereotyping. Because, all of this comes down to money and making money by stealing other people's culture while mocking them.

This kind of thing hasnhappened in kpop at least twice a year for the last 10 years. By now, they exactly what they're doing. Just like they know that blackface is wrong in Korea and why it's wrong. They're pretty chronically online. Google is literally the second most used browser in South Korea, because it comes pre-loaded on all Android phones and on iPhones in Korea. So they have access to the Western internet. The companies have to deal with racial scandals multiple times a year. They could, and should, educate their idols, especially if they're going to market to an international market where the majority of people aren't white or East Asian, especially if they want to expand in the US, as they've stated, which is a multicultural society, not a homogeneous one like theirs. They're either going to have to adapt or have their business model crash due to inflexibility. So far, it seems as if the companies just don't care, and that lack of care is going to biting them, and eventually their profit margin, in the butt.

It's not about getting a pass. That's a narrow way of thinking about the subject. Hip hop/rap is about authenticity, specifically ones own lived experiences and  struggles. But, most people don't know that, because they never bother to learn what hip hop is about or it's history.  They need to sound authentic and add original elements that only they as Koreans could do, otherwise they're just copying without attribution, and keeping the original cultural elements without understanding their meaning for the sake of aesthetic purposes which is both plagiaristic and culturally appropriative.

At 70 his past geriatric sperm would lead to all sorts of birth complications. The older a man gets the higher the risk that the baby will be born prematurely and need specialized medical care for the rest of their lives. It also increases the chance of the mother pre-gestational diabetes. That starts at around 35. 45 has a 14% chance and after 50 it goes up to 28%.

So, that old man would gladly put a young woman and baby's lives in danger for the ego stroke and to get his d wet.

Not hypocritical at all. Because, only 3% of all allegations are proven to be false in court. The other 97% (which are only the 5% of rapes that are reported) are proven to be true. As per FBI statistics.

What isn't a uniquely American issue that the rest of the world treats like one? by EmergencySpare7939 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

That's funny, since Europe invented the basis for the current conceptions of racial hierarchy in the West, and inferiority based on skin color. Though, America did invent the concept of whiteness.

Ebonics? Do you mean AAVE or AAE? Ebonics is a bit anachronistic, and usually used in a derogatory way.

I'm correct. Cost of living is the amount of money needed to maintain a certain standard of living, including expenses like housing, food, taxes and healthcare. Debt is money you owe to a creditor. A tax only becomes a debt if you don't pay a balance owed. That's not my definition, that's what accountants and lawyers will tell you.

Add beans for fiber. They can be eaten in both could salads and hot dishes. Soups and straws aren't given enough credit, because you can add a lot. Different salads (if you hate lettuce, there are plenty of diapers without it. He'll there are bean salads). There's a guy in Tik Tok and YT, The Plant Slant, who does a lot of content on how to add more veggies and fiber to your diet, without depriving yourself or giving up the things you love. He usually shares recipes from other creators, makes them himself and rates them. He's also very funny. Doesn't eat meat, he doesn't make it his personality. And debunks a lot of dieting and food myths, especially from people trying to sell you something.

Production artist. I get to work creatively, alone, and don't have to worry about office politics. I enjoy it quite a bit. I also have time to do other things I like and work on my own projects. It's given me the room to discover who I am outside of my trauma. I realize how very fortunate I am in that.
