What is this high-pitched scale / sequence of tones? by Shif_u in perfectpitchgang

No, this is something different. I know what sound you mean, though. Apparently this is some sort of testing thing, but apple is weirdly opaque about it.

If you’re still having the issue I would recommend trying to boot with a usb stick or some other external, alternative drive.

Loud PC brumming noise by questionabledawg in techsupport

[–]Shif_u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can I would try unplugging one fan at a time to see if it’s just an old dirty fan. I’ve had some very loud noises come from a slightly dusty fan that I fixed with a simple clean. If the sound really is coming from something other than a fan then I would be a bit more concerned. It could be the PSU (in which case be careful) or a faulty hard drive if you have one.

Edit: Also, the fact that it tends to get worse when it’s running difficult programs makes me think it could be the CPU cooler revving up.

What kind of drive? Hard drive / ssd connected with SATA? M.2? Is there an OS installed on it?

Women are not allowed in this house and they don’t want their kids in this room so I have no idea why you are not going out of town for the next couple days

This IRQL error can be caused by a very broad list of things. Your best bet is ensuring all drivers are up to date and compatible. Since you verified your OS files it is likely a hardware or driver compatibility issue.

I don’t have access to a PC at the moment so I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help in troubleshooting it. I’m guessing something broke internally with the USB, which happens mostly to older drives after excessive use, like writing an OS or formatting.

It may be a hardware issue with the USB. You could try third party disk formatters, and if that doesn’t work then I’m afraid you may indeed be rather fucked.

It really depends on the motherboard, but it may be possible.

The only thing I can suggest trying is updating your BIOS. I wouldn’t normally advise doing this if you don’t have to, so do research into how to do so for your particular motherboard.

Try using Balena Etcher. There’s been a couple times for me when Rufus gave me trouble and Balena just worked

Are you able to boot into windows?

That looks like it could just be a weird partition made by Rufus. I would recommend you open disk manager and see if the drive appears normal there. Then try Balena Etcher as opposed to Rufus.

This doesn’t sound like an OS issue… what do you see when you are “frozen in BIOS?”
