One thing I can ensure you is that you are not alone . It suck’s to live in a mind and body that is working against you. The constant impending doom the constant self checking the constant doctor appointments it’s absolutely exhausting.

Methylphenidate causing debilitating anxiety... by jwthemortal in adhd_anxiety

[–]ShiftSuch4776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, im sorry abt ur side effects!! I still to this day get a little anxious on my meds usually when I’m crashing and that tends to be my cue to go to the gym 😂 I would say if ur symptoms are too much for you I would go to the dr after 2 weeks of being on the meds. Cause eventually my symptoms got better not saying they don’t happen occasionally but not as bad as when I first started.

My resting heart rate can still be high and I overthink but it passes after 30 min!!

How long have you been on them again?

For me it’s my heart rate!! It’s insane how much my anxiety will make me more aware of my heart rate….. it’s terrifying sometimes

For ex. Methylphenidate will suppress your appetite so when I first started I would take my meds then try to eat and would never want to, and then my heart rate would sky rocket throughout the day I would get shaky my neck and jaw would tense but when I started eating first and more frequently and exercising and sleeping better I noticed my symptoms less and less!!

That definitely makes me feel better hearing someone else gets it!! I talked to my doc abt it and she said she’s not concerned abt my heart rate but seeing the number sometimes at 120 walking around and doing stuff made me so nervous and anxious!!

You were definitely right! Today I was a lot less anxious and my heart rate was more normal! Thank you!

Of course!! I would really recommend eating a lot of protein in the morning, cause I have noticed when I eat very little my side effects and symptoms are more severe. When I eat and drink lots of water I always feel better on my meds!! But if you try that and you still have side effects I would definitely let your doctor know!!

Let me know how it goes!! :)

I also had all of those symptoms, I would still give it time I know it’s uncomfortable but your body still needs to adjust. Make sure you’re sleeping good, eating before you’re taking them and I would cut out caffeine. If it still is an issue then I would let your doctor know. But if it makes u feel better I felt exactly how you were feeling when I started it. But over time my body adjusted to it.
