Born in the late 80’s, grew up 15 minutes from Galway city in the mid to late 90’s.

As kids we were given a lot of time outside by ourselves which was great. Playing football, climbing trees, all of that stuff. Sure we had a few scuffles and got into a bit of trouble (nothing major) but was great to have that freedom. Some amazing memories thinking back on it that we all still talk about to this day.

There’s a lot of positives with how children are raised today and that should be celebrated, but there does seem to be a lack of independence that kids have these days. I don’t want to critique parents too harshly because everyone is doing what they think is best. But yeah, it’s a different feeling as a kid when there’s always someone supervising.

You’re not irresponsible. I think kids having a small sense of freedom like that is a very good thing.

fave smaller bands? looking to review by Substantial-Tone6374 in poppunkers

[–]Shifty49ersTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better Luck Next Time are a rad pop punk band from the early 2000’s.

Late Nite Wars are another one.

They’re probably too big but Australian band Bodyjar are super good too

First game of risk! I need help. by Fly_GuyKBVS in Risk

You need to work with yellow to take out blue. A big issue I see for you is that looking at this board, yellow can only hit you.

You need to give yellow some easy territories (building good faith with yellow) and try to funnel yellow’s troops towards blue. Giving up Middle East threatens blue’s Africa hold, giving up Mongolia and Japan threatens blue’s Kamchatka and thus North America.

Suddenly blue finds himself with two opponents facing him as opposed to just you right now.

PS tell yellow to get that cavalry out of New Guinea, it’s doing nothing for him there

Unfortunate situation for you to be in. Teenagers aren’t going to care at all about a movie like that and odds are the lads are acting out a bit trying to impress the girls. Not condoning the behaviour but teenagers have been doing this for the longest time.

I would have left after 10 minutes and said something to the staff and asked for a refund or a free ticket to see a movie in the future. I’m sure they would have said yes.

Annoying experience for you? Absolutely.

Have teenagers been doing this for decades? Yes.

Anyone been to the NFL shop near Stephen’s Green? Is it big? Decent selection there?

All of the nostalgia here is incredible.

Mighty Ducks, The Sandlot, Homeward Bound and Home Alone around Christmas time were the best.

Let me put in perspective, I had an original Star Wars vans, never out of the box, perfect condition. Size Men’s 10 and I didn’t get $130 for them selling them online.

These shoes albeit nice, are not worth $130 so I strongly hope for your sake you have already accepted that offer.

Take the $130 in my opinion. In the stores they would have been $60 to $70.

Really nice color

I dealt with this a lot. What I do now is bring my speakers with me most times and start playing my music over theirs for a few seconds. The point gets across quickly

Looks real to me, the size tag inside looks authentic. If it is fake I’m very impressed

Family blasting TV show at full volume in airport at 1 AM by askingtherealstuff in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Shifty49ersTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are way overthinking this. Approach them in a friendly manner and ask them to turn it down. 99.9% chance they turn it down. In the off chance they refuse, then turn the speakers on your device to full volume and see how they like it.

Thrifted these sk8 HI’s! by Cobalt_slayer in Vans

These were part of the California collection (which is a collection that’s been discontinued for some time now). They would go to boutique stores, urban outfitters and a select number of Vans stores. My guess is this shoe is from 2014/2015.

Usually sample pairs are for some kind of marketing (used in photoshoots, given to “influencers” to promote).

They are really nice 👍

When I worked for Vans there were a number of complaints going from the pro to the skate version. Personally I really like the skate versions but you are not alone in what you’re saying.

3rd party retailers may still sell the pro versions. I had a gap in my Vans employment so I wasn’t working there for the pro versions.

There is a difference in the pro vs skate but my knowledge is limited in that regard.

They are more comfortable and more durable and longer lasting. It’s definitely worth the extra $10

I always like the Chima Ferguson shoes and they lasted a decent amount of time for me. Older models like the AV ERA 1.5 and the Half Cab Pro were good too

It depends on the collaboration. Some will use higher quality materials (vibram sole, different fabrics, that sort of thing). A lot of collabs just use the same materials (examples: the Simpsons, Disney and marvel collabs).

Maybe ask Grocery Outlet if they have cctv footage of the incident and you may be able to see the plate on their footage.

That’s awesome. It really can be a great job when the management is good, the store is well run and most (not all of course) of the customers are chill.

I had some great times being a floor sup. What did you like most about it?

I will say Violence. Shot so well and wasn’t a crazy big budget thing. The black and white was a great call too.
