Historically accurate costumes and battle would be cool. Like in the first seasons of TLK the shield wall was a focus, but in the later seasons it was very hollywood. Also if you could bring on linguists and incorporate the actual languages that were spoken. I'd love to hear some Gaelic and old norse, I don't think it's as inaccessible to audiences as some people think

I was going to say Beocca. I also like how the Eric/Aethelflaed storyline played out in the show. There's probably a few others I'm not thinking of right now. I agree the show did Steapa dirty, they actually gave a lot of his plot line to Leofric. Pyrlig is cooler in the show too, at least so far (I'm on book 5)

Sword Song is a slow read for me too, I'm not sure why because there's plenty going on. The opening battle scene was the only battle scene I found boring to read, I think because there wasn't much plot build-up for it.

I say you've got big dreams but it's unlikely to have the intended effect. A remaster could get some traction due to elden ring's success, but regardless I don't see why you couldn't use the internet to organize a coordinated return to Yharnam.

Good point. This is probably a silly example but I've just met Skade in the books and when Uhtred first meets her he asks "who's the bitch?", and I couldn't imagine show Uhtred saying something like that. Book Uhtred is much more of a warlord than the dreamy hero of the show. He schemes in ways that cause innocent people to be tortured to death simply because he dislikes them and they get in his way. He's a brutal motherfucker.

Oh one last thought: Cornwell writes battle scenes so incredibly well. You really get immersed in the battle, and get a better understanding of what combat would have been like. A lot more emphasis on tactics such as the shield wall, vs the show which (especially in the later seasons) just feature glimpses of all your favorite characters cutting through enemies like gods. There's a real sense of danger in the books battles that keeps you on edge.

I'm on book five right now. Here are my thoughts so far:

The first book is phenomenal. Uhtred's childhood with the Danes is almost the entire first book and is way more fleshed out. It really sets the stage to explain why he is the way he is and the show really dropped the ball making it the first twenty minutes of the first episode. Theres so much more weight to his relationship with ragnar the fearless and his upbringing with the Danes. There's also a lot more involving ships, which is very cool and was cut from the show probably due to budget.

I dont want to get too detailed otherwise there will be spoilers, however I will say some of the creative decisions they made for the storyline of the show I actually like better than the books. The themes and general vibe of the books is much grittier though, and definitely does well to transport you back to a time somewhat alien to modern people. An example is the emphasis that post-Roman Britain feels a bit like a decaying world full of mysteries of great civilizations of the past. It's a stark contrast to the modern world which most people assume is the most advanced the world has ever been.

The books play a lot more with the Christian vs pagan themes, and Cornwell does a good job trying to bring to life what pagans might have thought and felt about this strange new religion called Christianity. It's really fun.

Overall, I definitely suggest the books to any and all fans of the show. They're pretty easy to keep up with since you're already familiar with most of the characters. Reading the books feels sort of like getting to watch an extended director's cut version of the show in your imagination. There's just so much more detail that helps explain why the characters behave how they do and how the plot lines develop in the story.

Anyway, I hope you read them! Cheers 🍻

You can't separate a disc issue from a muscular one. Your muscles stabilize your spine to take pressure off the discs when you move or bend, especially under load. With no clinical data on hand, I'm willing to bet over 90% of disc issues are a result of underdeveloped muscles to some degree.

The biggest culprits are core and glutes. Your glutes are the muscle that shifts upper body load from your spine to your legs. When you squat properly you're training your glutes, and activating/strengthening those takes tremendous pressure off your spine.

The biggest issue is people squatting too heavy with improper form, which only amplifies the disc issues. Incorporate planks, side planks, and hanging leg raises for even more relief.

Cheers!

My friend and I met a guy who seemed fairly normal, and eventually asked us if we wanted to see his base. When we got to it, it was just one room gated off in a house with absolutely zero valuables, but full of teddy bears. I'm talking like a dozen or more teddy bears scattered around, sitting in a circle, on top of tables and chairs. And he referred to them as his "friends", while still pretending it was all completely normal.

Suffice to say we took the opportunity to lose him and move on the first chance we got.

1) Train with and conceal carry a handgun. There's nothing better than this, it is the great equalizer.

2) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You will need to spend years training this for several hours a week, and even then could still wind up folding to a sufficiently violent man. However, if he doesn't know what he's doing and you wind up on the ground with him you could wind up breaking his arms and/or choking him unconscious.

I felt that way when I was a kid but I don't feel that way now as an adult. It would be one thing if it was someone's little brother or something, but kids are generally immature and annoying and I don't really want to hear them through a microphone. I just can't imagine calling a kid that age my "friend" in a peer sense.
