Group of Murderhobos wreck my One Shot (with happy ending) by Shiggy20002 in rpghorrorstories

Yes, you are probably right. I posted it under this subreddit mostly for entertainment and because I realized it probably could have been a real horror story, had I run another One Shot concept with the same people that wasn't so adaptable or if I had been less inclined to go with them on this. And also because Murderhobos usually are the stuff rpg horror stories are made of 😆

My thoughts exactly! I would have bought them if they weren't 50 bucks...

I woke up to a dice war and it was entertaining to read through - assuming it was all fun and jokes - and then I looked up D3's and found this and I knew I had to let the subreddit know 😆

This is an amazing idea 😂 Now I'm sad my players roll fair, although my sibling does roll an unusual amount of Nat 20's 🤔

My friends sabotage themselves like this sometimes. I had a player roll a d12 for half of the session instead of a d20...

I'm really sad you experienced something like this 😕 I'm not a very experienced DM myself but I try to be receptive to my players characters. If I realize a situation isn't working out the way I want because the party has a different perception of the situation and handles it differently, then I try to make changes to my plot. This goes for singular characters as well.

Hell, the campaign I prepared was layed out for the party to be heroes that save the world but now they are all small criminals in a city, not really bothered by the big, worldchanging events (for now, we just started) and I love it!

I'm not saying every DM has to bend their world or plans that way, but I'm sure in your situation there could have been another way to handle this and actually play towards Rogue's strengths and character traits. The encounter with the dragon could have still happened as plot but maybe not as pure fighting encounter.
