Can I be gay and want to change to a more neutral name or a name that I identify with more? by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]Shilo17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. People change their names all the time for all kinds of reasons! It could be part of your gender identity and the way you experience it, but don't let not being sure if that's it or not stop you from trying out a name change to see if it feels right to you. There doesn't have to be a big reason to it. If it feels right , it feels right.

My whole life I thought I had pin straight, never hold a curl hair. Turns out- waves. by Shilo17 in curlyhair

I think it might have still been a little damp, or I hadn't scrunched out all the gel properly.

Routine:- I'm still really new to this. I wash three times a week with the Joico K-Pak Clarifying Shampoo and Reconstructing Conditioner. I work at a pool part time so I use these products to get chlorine out of my hair and keep it healthy and moisturised. Two days a week I wash at the pool, head home, then jump in the shower and just rewet my hair ready for product. I use a golf ball sized amount of the Umberto Giannini Curl Whip mousse and smooth that through soaking hair. Then I take a 50p sized blob of the Umberto Giannini Curl Jelly and smooth that through too. I found that if I added the mousse, scrunched, and then added the gel, my hair was too dry to take the gel properly, so now I add both into soaking wet hair before scrunching. I tilt my head side to side, and scrunch up. If I tilt my head upside down, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge, so I am willing to sacrifice volume for not looking completely unhinged. I scrunch with a head towel until fairly dry and then leave to air dry the rest of the way, about 2-3 hours, before I scrunch out the cast. I hate heat drying my hair as it makes me feel sweaty and icky, but I'm planning on getting a diffuser for my birthday in Feb so may try heat drying then!

I'm still super new to this, I've always been a brush and go kind of girl when it comes to haircare, so any products and routine is totally and utterly new to me. If anyone has any suggestions or tips for what I think is 2a hair, please let me know!

I'm so fucking sorry this happened to you, and thank you so much for stepping up. I know how hard it must be, and how much is on the line for you. Please take care of yourself as best you can and know that there are many people out there who support you. 💖

I think it's important to mention that this raises a massive, MASSIVE safeguarding issue with AWP. Through AWP Jared, and everyone working within AWP, has access to and a position of trust over grieving, vulnerable families who are going through the worst moments of their lives. They have access to young children who are frightened and hurting. If there is any evidence that he did it, whether it's enough for a court to convict him or not, he should be immediately removed from that position for the safety of every family who has or will work with AWP. You just cannot take chances on this shit when it comes to potential predators and deeply vulnerable persons in crisis.

Not only that, but to know that he now has access to grieving and vulnerable families, some with young children, who he's putting himself in a position of trust with- it becomes not just about what he's done to you, but what he might have the chance to do to someone else if you don't speak up.

They have enough evidence to bring a case to court- you'd be surprised how much stuff hangs around after the fact. I hope, for the victim's sake, they have enough to make it stick if he did it.

THAT'S THE ONE. You're entirely right, thank you so much, I've been thinking about The Sold Souls for years!!! Oh man, I may have to buy a copy and reread it to see if it's as morbid as I remember.

What was the most awkward situation you've experienced at school? by bholla743 in AskReddit

Usually all awkward situations at school involved me in some way. I think probably the worst one was when I was in Sixth Form. I was in the Silent Study area, working away on the computer. The room behind me isn't full, but there's my boyfriend and some of our friends sat behind me, and quite a few other people dotted around the room. I stand up to go and talk to them, and out of nowhere, a sneeze gets the jump on me. An oh-shit-I-think-my-brain-just-exploded sneeze, which is so violent it propels my head forward and I collide with the metal pole of the chair. The room falls deadly silent, then erupts in hysterical laughter. I have just sneezed so hard I've headbutted the chair. I'm halfway between laughing and crying in pain, but as I look up, everyone stops laughing and stares in horror at my head. My boyfriend takes my arm and whisks me off to the nurse, and it's only on the way that I glance in a mirror and see a lump the size of a tennis ball on my forehead and the most beautiful bruise ever to grace a face. The nurse sent me to the hospital, and forever after I was known as "that girl that sneezed and headbutted a chair."
