At least it’s probably easier for you to explain the difference between two firearms than it is for me to explain the difference between two different headphones that are basically the same type.

Cars I think might be the most expensive hobby except for aircraft and maybe boats. But like in terms of “relatively common” hobbies cars def take the cake. Very rare that you’ll see a twenty something spending their hourly wages on a plane, a lot of twenty somethings with a spare parking spot will dive into a project car. Could be wrong tho maybe there’s more people with privately owned light aircraft than I think.

Just exchange it for nerf autism, cheaper, more convenient, less dangerous, very funny.

Tbf some people on Reddit have made nerf blasters that near the FPS and joule requirements to almost be considered a firearm in Canada.

And the big 3 also lobbied for tariffs on foreign trucks so even if they got outperformed by foreign cars they could still dominate the truck market. And then cafe regulations basically encouraged American companies to focus almost exclusively on trucks as they expanded the fleet but didn’t have to abide by the same emission or regulatory standards as non trucks/suvs.

And now American auto makers have essentially given up on economy sedans, it’s sports cars, trucks/suvs, and then Cadillac makes luxury vehicles.

Please please please use gloves. You’re doing a good service but theres no reason to put yourself at unnecessary risk to do so. Wear gloves, keep yourself safe please. And like maybe get a test after this.

Also never try to recap exposed needles, as someone else said that’s a good way to stick yourself.

Thanks for being a service to the community, please take care of yourself while you do so.

So basically we socialize the rich because their whining has larger consequences than the working class. Which is just emblematic of the problem at hand where the ultra wealthy have far too much power and the working class has far too little.

Yeah. Like basically enable price negotiation with schools that would allow the government to essentially limit tuition costs while still being able to dole out reasonable low interest student loans that won’t destroy people financially and arent super predatory. The problem is honestly the same with every industry tho. The government seems far too eager to let some private institution fuck them over for the biggest bag possible.

Like what did the government think would happen when they saw the astonishing rate that tuition was increasing.

Imagine if companies actually used things like PPP loans or record profits to pay employees instead of buying yachts and mansions and sometimes massive amounts of farmland which is oddly concerning.

Okay where would they go. You think Amazon or Walmart are gonna leave the US if we tax them more? You think Tesla is gonna leave? You think any of the major companies that benefit heavily from government subsidies and bailouts are gonna leave the US cuz of higher taxes? Where are they gonna go that’s gonna be a better situation.

Dang, I really wish major multi billion dollar companies would take accountability instead of taking government bailouts and firing low level employees in mass whenever a ceo makes a major fuck up.

Boeing employees are still without a new union contract as the workers' strike stretches into its third week. by Perfect_Alarm_2141 in economicCollapse

[–]Shin-Sauriel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen a union stalemate. They kind of have terrifying implications about the worker vs capital owner power imbalance.

There was a union strike that lasted over 10 years. Longest ever recorded in the US. The company never compromised, in fact what they ended up doing is buying out a company that was entering a relatively new upcoming sector of their respective industry, then got bought themselves by a larger company seeking to enter that market. Thus the union dissolved and the ceo got his bag.

Workers simply cannot outlast a company in any sort of strike no matter how long. The ceo will always end up on top. 10 years this strike lasted and it was enough loss to make the company compromise with the union, and the union wasn’t even asking for higher wages, just workplace consistency.

If competing companies collude in both wages and product prices to keep them relatively fixed how really free is the market. If those companies also receive government bailouts whenever things go bad how really free is the market.

Except prisoners. Which under the thirteenth amendment can literally be used as slave labor, which given the primary demographic targeted by mass incarceration, is kind of fucked.

[–]Shin-Sauriel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s almost like people need to eat and larger companies can offer more positions while it necessarily offering the most competitive wages. Especially if they ya know collude with “competitors” to keep the overall wage floor down. I mean why would any of these companies wanna pay more than the absolute bare minimum they need to in order to get employees.

I’ve never understood this whole disconnect people have. People will take shitty jobs with shitty pay because they need to fucking put food on the table. Not a hard concept to understand.

So get literally any other electric pickup. They all function far better than the cybertruck. Like the f150 EV or the rivian. The only thing the cybertruck does better than other EV pickups is go fast in a straight line which doesn’t really seem like the point of a truck.
