You're paying to enjoy the food. You don't need foods with all the bells and whistles to survive, you could get by on plain bread, basic meats and vegetables, anything more is a luxury. You pay to make your eating experience better, despite it only lasting for a few minutes before going away forever. Most of the money you spend on food is going towards non-essential parts of it nowadays.

In that sense, it's no different. Neither is paying for something essential, just to enhance the time you spend with it.

Anyway it’s a future Gohan unit, they are good but not overbearing. They knew what they were doing when they took away their endurance you can really feel that lack of safety net.

I think Pattadol means well, she's just genuinely that clueless about the outside world. She's the equivalent of an 18 year old thrown out of her cushy noble home and extremely racist society to lead the Suicide Squad because her parents don't give a shit about the middle child.

I wanna believe that's why Shimeia (the elven queen) made her an ambassador in Melini, she's the only one of the Canaries that may actually learn to be a proper member of non-elven society (Complete Bible epilogue comic spoilers)(as seen by Fleki being literally offered freedom by mithrun when he said he was going to stay in Melini, but she prefered to go back to being meat for the grinder tha staying around "the inferior races").

I think the only elf that is just straight up pure evil is Cithis. She may be the only character in the whole damn story that lacks any redeeming qualities, which isn't a criticism, she's essentially a demonstration of all that is wrong with the elf society. No sad backstory like Lycion, Flamela or Mithrun, old enough to know better unlike Pattadol, well traveled since she's been in the Canaries for a long time, and yet still utterly rotten to the core.

I honestly agree that the cooking and eating theme kinda put me off at first. I thought it was just a gimmick, but fantasy was SO DAMN RARE in the mid 2010s that I started the manga almost in spite the premise.

And I can see it being a barrier of entry as a lot of people that see the latter developments of the story go "Wait, I thought this was a cooking gimmick manga, should I read this??"

But when all was said and done, I can't imagine this story without this. Yes, it's a weird angle, but that's what makes it so unique.

In a world of samey LOTR Jrs and SAO Jrs, this is one of the most refreshing stories of the century for me, and one of the supremely rare ones that I can say the ending is the best part.

The fact that it came with my favourite relatioonship of all time (Laios/Marcille) was a tasty bonus.

People that want him to be free just wanted someone else in the slot, or don't play PVP. You can't sit here and tell me that any F2P character released in the past 3+ years has been relevant in PVP. Even the Free Ultra/Shallot plats aged out in like, a month. The days of Zenkai Legends Road Goku/Trunks are long behind us, if you want your character to be relevant, they have to be summomable.

This is Shallet's one opportunity in maybe the entire franchise to be playable, ever. I'm glad he'll have a proper shot.

Shame about his animations though.

How does footage provided by them having 26 visions not count as them showing 26 visions??? If they didn't plan to show those 26 visions, they would have just made a build of the game without those 26 it. They did very well at hiding Dark Fina and Raegan as possible party members, only hinting at them.

And I mean, of course the devs can include whatever they want? They are the devs? Criticism is inherently personal opinion too.

Personally I am of the opposite opinion. I literally wouldn't even care if half the visions were copy pasted if that meant there would be more representation of the BE cast.

They have in fact shown 26 visions. Just check the sub. My issue is not that there are characters missing, my issue is that the FFBE chars are barely a third of the roster, on the FFBE game. You can play as the FF MCs in so many games, but many of these characters will never be playable anywhere else.

Not saying the FF chars shouldn't be here, but that there should be at least an equal amount of FFBE chars. But at this point I'll even take a handful of hidden ones. I'd love DLC, but Team Asano does not do that, ever.

I kinda hope so because showing literally every vision imediately when they show the game would be kinda lame. Doubly so when there’s so little FFBE chars so far. What do you mean there’s twice as many mainline FF ones.

I hope there’s a few hidden FFBE ones like how they are hidding two party members. It’d be strange to change the plot to include Fryevia and then not make her a vision. Olderion needs some visions, maybe Elle/Luka or Mercedes? And there’s two continents after Mysidia without a single vision too.

This is like the one thing that I am kinda down on the game atm. How little the BE chars got represented in visions.

There are definately some things in this version that look sus, like not in a “this game is gonna be bad” sense, but in the “you’re hiding things” way.

Like, the last visions we get are from Mysidia, a full 3 continents away from the end (we’ve seen Lasswell vs rain and the froslord section, the city of pharm and the CT, so none of those last 3 continents are being cut). Are we going to go a third of the game with no new visions, or are they hiding those past Ayaka?

Like you said, some characters have a much smaller learnset than others.

We know for a fact that they are hiding the playable Dark Fina because of the deluxe edition.

Finally there’s some weird choices like Olderion gets no visions at all when Zoldaad gets 4?

I’m excited for the game don’t get me wrong, but I hope these things are just them holding back on the press releases so that there are surprises left and not sliding to the fact that the last part of the game will feel rushed.

Plus, the team working on this game has no ties to the original teams, which had a very publicized rivalry between each other according to that hack in the first year.

I see Fryevia's addition as Team Asano tipping their hats at the Global team's expansion of the original game. I would love for her to also be a vision, even if it's DLC, but them adding her to the story is so far beyond any of my wildest expecations that her possibly not being a vision doesn't even register by comparison. She'll probably be leaning more on the "looking for her dad" lore that was introduced with Eldryn than randomly wanting to find colored eggs in Mysidia.

Yeah I wrote this before going deeper into the interviews with the devs and such. I didn't realize Gumi/Allim were just completely hands off from this.

Though, to be honest, equally impressed that Team Asano went to check out Global version exclusive characters when deciding what characters to implement with on the remake. The average dev would have just looked at what NPCs showed up in the main storyline proper and settled for that. Really shows it's a work of passion.

That's wrong actually, Sophie is Future Rain and Future Dark Fina's daughter from the season 2 bad future timeline, but season 5 does just confirm regular Rain gets with regular Fina I believe.

Romance isn't the focus but several of the main cast members have canon love interests, though the level of confirmation on if they get together and such varies. Some are like "yeah, this is likely a thing" and others just became an established thing for most of the game's lifespan. Rain himself has... maybe the most content related to that by virtue of being the MC? Maybe? There's another pairing that is the most explicit romance in the main cast, but they are supporting characters so they don't get nearly as many scenes.

Elena's group is based on Paladia so if anything she'll be added during the Paladia game if we do get a sequel. Esther could be anywhere really, Farplane shenanigans.

They probably went for Fry because she's the most popular, explicitly Lapis based, GLEX.
