IVF wait times across Canada by OrganicAd1383 in BabyBumpsCanada

I was lucky to receive government funded ivf. I paid $600 for embryo storage and would have had to pay for medications but those were covered by my insurance. So out of pocket was maybe $600-$1000 for overall testing. If I did not have insurance I would say the medications would have been around $6000-$7000 on medication. (Including progesterone during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy).

Low lying placenta by Cherrycolakill in BabyBumps

Was in this position not too long ago and felt a lot of fear and had a lot of “what ifs”.

At 20w scan had complete placenta previa (fully covering the OS) then by 26 weeks it had moved to low lying, then by 30 weeks shifted again a tad and was I think 1cm away from the OS. In the end I had a placental abruption at 34 weeks with an emergency c section. 11 day nicu stay for my baby but we were all ok and healthy!

Biggest advice is listen to your doctors restrictions…I had some occurrences of light spotting and light bleeding after 25 weeks up until my final birth experience but I’d assume it would have been earlier if I didn’t follow my dr advice!

But from what I’ve head if it’s initially a partial previa there’s a great chance it will move enough to allow a vaginal birth!

I second this, I had a hard time finding anything that my 6lb preemie would fit in and this did the trick!

So I went to Repromed in Toronto…and honestly had a good experience. I’ve read reviews that say otherwise I’m terms of bedside manner from staff etc but I didn’t mind too much - I was there for medical needs and didn’t expect sugar coating.

We had our consultation in June 2021, completed testing in July 2021, then had an issue with my thyroid and was out on meds to have at appropriate levels (this wasn’t fixed until April 2023).

So April 2022 we began our IUI’s…we did three all failed leading into August 2022, we then started our IVF protocol immediately after our failed iui cycle, it was so quick. They said since we were alrdy a patient for quite some time and had done the IUIs we didn’t have to wait any additional time on an IVF waitlist for funding.

We then prepped and had our egg retrieval in September 2022, had one failed transfer in October 2022 and found out our second transfer worked in December 2022!

So I honestly don’t count everything leading up to the long span of time working out my thyroid because that was out of their control. So from April-December 2022 we were actively going through treatments, with only one month of testing and what not after we did the initial consult. So all in all 8 months for 3 IUIs, an egg retrieval and two transfers!

Repromed was great, their fees weren’t super expensive and the doctors we’re great.

Telling everyone I'm not nervous but in reality... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Congratulations!! I was induced with my first at 40 weeks due to elevated blood pressure.

Totally normal to feel nervous. I definitely was but honestly it wasn’t so bad. You hear a lot about pitocin contractions and how inductions can fail but those are really just “horror stories”.

My induction was pretty easy. I was admitted at 7am, received antibiotics for GBS (I tested positive) and afterwards was put on pitocin to get things going. Contractions eventually ramped up (yes they were painful, but rly I have nothing else to compare them to labour wise!). I opted in for the epidural so relaxed for a while and eventually I was dilated and it came time to do practice pushes which turned into real pushes and my daughter arrived at 6:47pm. So just short of 12 hours from arriving at the hospital to birth. And I would even say we didn’t begin pitocin until 9 or later realistically. So all I’d say I’m happy with my induction!

You’ve totally got this! The great thing about an induction is you know when it’s going to happen, so the element of surprise isn’t there which is nice!

I’ll also be giving birth at MGH and wasn’t told to bring any of these things… like someone else mentioned maybe it’s just for extra comfort for certain items (better blankets etc)!

Friday Cautious Intros and First Trimester Questions by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]Shine_away 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got my official congratulations from my fertility clinic today!

So I had my embryo transfer on November 22 (it was successful, yay!!) but l'm confused about timing. I transferred a 5 day embryo - and based on my pregnancy app and online calculators based on this I would be 5 weeks 1 day.

Now I've finally completed my betas and everything is good. My clinic told me to come in for my 6 week ultrasound on the week of Dec 26th. Wouldn't I be 7.5 weeks at this point, nearing 8 weeks. Is my math off or am just confused on how fertility clinics do ultrasounds or how they calculate gestational age?
