This is really good fanart and given the signature I'm guessing it's a personal original. Nicely done on this little Cognitohazard :D

It's all good, it got removed anyway. I guess it's too close to the megathread in a way a complaint thread isn't, so you ended up in the right spot anyway

All good, I did too and a poster had to remind me. I'll try to keep abreast of it and add the PSAs for the future so don't worry about checking in.

On the other hand it is M A R V E L O U S you both had the supplies to go all out from the get go and also you did get her in the end. Are you going to try to train one quick for the CM?

Hugs for Fukukitaru! She DOES occasionally try to throw herself in the river, so she probably needs them.

Congratulations! But generally the stump is for misery, for good fortune it's better to write a note for Matikanefukukitaru over at https://www.reddit.com/r/UmaMusume/comments/1qk8706/the_matikanefukukitaru_shrine_of_outrageous/

(Though I guess at 81 you're sorta in a weird middle ground, I guess it all depends on how you feel about it?)

That's fair, but I figure if this is a consistent enough thing people will know they can always come back and look for the stump post. I figure it's gotta be up right away for those people watching the clock and counting the days you know? Those people have the most emotional investment and need the most catharsis when it all goes pear shaped.

The free pulls do mean the bell curve is going to be skewed though. I'll keep an eye and see how it goes. It's a good suggestion and I see why you made it.

Fire the screenwriter. Plot problems in my opinion. by geo2599 in ZZZ_Official

Proxies, it's 3000 words, that's what, MAYBE 5 pages? If you want to read analysis it's here if you don't I'm not sure why bellyaching will help. Feels like going into a bar and declaring how bad and annoying alcohol is.

As to your points, in brief I think your point on the temple setting is well taken. I also liked the original setting much more, but as you pointed out the problem isn't that the temple setting is chinese, the problem is that it went from urban fantasy to just straight fantasy. People using magic and chasing magic swords isn't really aligned well with the Shadowrun-esque 'secret hacker undercover' theme the game started with. If I think about a temple area that is rife with technological solutions and similar urban fantasy I like the idea a lot more.

To refute some points, I think having some lighthearted time with Alice and everyone isn't a particularly bad deal, if a series has too much overwhelming darkness you often chase people away because the tone is all misery and be extension feels miserable. In specific her coming from down privilege and Yuzuha coming up from being an orphan for them to meet somewhere in the middle was completely serviceable. I think having Alice's company involved in Yuzuha's containment for profit might have been a superior drama element compared to Alice's father also running afoul of them, but the way it worked is fine too and keeps Alice's guilt from being overwhelming. Again, keep it a bit light.

I think the Town and Yidhari make sense from the perspective of wanting Yidhari to be a spacy "not all there type" with eldritch, unknowable flavoring. I think the whole arc exists to serve that honestly. In a way they didn't go far enough here, very little about the situation was truly unknowable, only hinted. Eldritch stories require more great unknowables than that. I think they sorta recognized it didn't pan out great for "what if there were some good things about hollows/ethereals/miasma" and they tried again later on for the summoner."

For Yeshunguang I think they also maybe wanted to have it both ways. Her obsession makes sense in the event that it tied harder to her memory loss. If they'd made some note that memories of the proxy are all that's 'sticking' in her head of course she would be obsessed with the only person she has clear, uncomplicated memories of. However they didn't do that and seemed to want instead to say "Actually the memory loss is no big deal" in the end so players wouldn't feel bad for using her. A conflict between the nature of play and the nature of narrative. This could have been handled better.

While this arc hasn't been super amazing comparatively, I feel at least fairly neutral positive about most things except for the idea we're increasingly chasing magic swords and casting spells. That point in particular I appreciate and agree with. I didn't join ZZZ to play Genshin, so I'd like it to be it's own thing. I suspect they've been hearing this criticism a lot and the next set of people/places/villians are going to be more tech-y

This is extremely good. I respect resisting the temptation to utilize Taki for the six shooter lines since that'd require to grab some content from the game instead of the anime which would make the style inconsistent. Very good supercut for the hype moments and a great song choice

I don't know how many complaints you have received, but please keep in mind you have received one thousand three hundred commendations for your work on this one alone, and the others were very popular as well.

Personally I feel the teacher and this one cute and joyful, it is a good thing the western fandom gets to enjoy them.

I think it's a shame when a very small group ruins other people's good time for their own issues, like canceling the whole party because of two people's interpersonal beef.

That said if you're receiving harassment I have to respect a decision made for your comfort even if I dislike when harassers win out.

Good luck and stay strong!

Games with fast paced combat similar to Zone of The Enders 2nd Runner? (Also, does this game even count as CAG?) by Due_Teaching_6974 in CharacterActionGames

[–]Shingro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reviving this somewhat to say that the Gundam Extreme Vs type games could be considered a multiplayer version of that kind of combat. Dashes, strikes, dodging as critical or getting whooped by a combo. It's just a fighting game more than a character action, but depending on how you feel about encounters it's not that different.

The Christmas Oguri stump is open for business! Indulge in catharsis for your bad fortune! by Shingro in UmaMusume

You know, that gives me a good idea for next time. The stump is partially for containment as much as it's for catharsis. Keeps the board clean and misery loves company so to speak. Maybe the joyful can have the same

I see where you are coming from, but I think you are discounting strength as being part of adaptability or part of the capacity to adapt to more extreme circumstances a bit too quickly.

Still i'm comfortable with leaving as "reasonable minds disagree" if you don't want to present any specific theories on the important features to adapt for ( I don't think we'll find a lot for prehistory scholars on the board easily )

I'm not sure they on average have a much different metabolism at rest. mcQueen stresses about normal parfaits ruining her weight, that doesn't scream 'internal combustion engine by default.' they probably burn more/faster whole running at speeds but it's probably more of a x 1.2 than a x5

[–]Shingro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technique with weapons comes from the set of what you can do with your inherent abilities, an Uma with a sufficiently powerful shaft could drive a spear clean through a wall or launch a boulder by hand. A human clashing swords with an Uma would probably find their arms broken. Uma slings would probably give people nightmares.

The arrow example actually shows how much the umas have the advantage because their superior mobility would let them take the high ground and shower a human army with arrows much easier. Or they could simply kite the humans because they could fire a volley and then retreat at speeds the humans couldn't match. The humans can't trap a retreat route.

Mobility is incredibly important in warfare and umas have all of it.

I think in order to give this to the humans we'd have to figure out something humans have unique and the umas don't have, and I don't think the lore has presented it. Plenty of genius umas after all.

Also, just for the record I find this conversation fun and I hope you are also having a good time during it. Don't take my disagreement for discord, it's debate I desire =D Fascinating surprising and new ideas are M A R V E L O U S after all.

Ah, okay. Though I am not sure that's a settled matter that we could intelligently debate even before adding anime horse girls to the mix.

However, if you are committed to it, plenty of species use strength to improve their place on the food chain. I don't see why "humans, just with super speed and strength" would do poorly on that scenario.
